As far as i know Courier imap generates the certificates when the service
is starting if it's unable to find them.
It uses the settings from the file imapd.cnf
On my system that file is found in the /usr/lib/courier-imap/etc directory.

i wrote patch for shupp toaster. Patch allows load for tls session
different certficates by specifing enviromental variable SSLGROUP.
It's usable for people running multiple qmail-smtpd instances on
different ip addreses (now each ip address can have own tls
certificate).

to allow 'make cert' do its job.
