Actually you have to put mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar (or
whatever version you have) into /common/lib of Tomcat.
Renaming is not necessary.
There's more information in the Tomcat Documenation for JDBC Realms,
JNDI Datasources etc.
If you unpack the driver's jar file, you'll also find
(CONNECT_STRING).newInstance();
s = (DriverManager.getConnection(DATABASE_STRING,,)).createStatement();
ResultSet r = s.executeQuery(sQuery);

And then I process the ResultSet.

I'd like to to build mod_jk for use with an existing build of Apache
1.3.27 and the binary distribution of Tomcat 4.1.18.
But I've like to avoid building from source all the connectors for
all Apache versions. I'm not sure that I need anything beyond

We have configured Tomcat with the Coyote HTTP/1.1 connector. It runs fine
for several days (or even a week), but then all HTTP/1.1 redirects begin
taking a long time to return - in fact, they take exactly 60 seconds, which

I had a similar problem, but with the jk2 binary I downloaded. It
wouldn't run with 2.0.44. I tried the mod_jk2.so that is on John
Turner's site, and it loaded. I don't know what he did to build it, but
it is clearly radically different from the binary on the Jakarta site,
since the Jakarta
My version has the secret sauce option fully enabled.
