Transport-guarantee problem with 4.1.18
I asked this earlier, but I still got problems with it. I upgraded to 4.1.18, but I got some problems with security constraints. I have applied a security constraint on a particular url pattern. Only certain users with a special rolename can access that link. The data transportation is also secure, therefore I put in a transport-guarantee in web.xml user-data-constraint transport-guaranteeCONFIDENTIAL/transport-guarantee /user-data-constraint It used to work but now the page does not load with v4.1.18. I got a blank page instead of a login page. Is SSL implemented differently v4.1.18 that prevents my application from working like before? I think it has to do with rolenames. I put in the needed role in tomcat-user.xml already. Did I miss something? Is there any documentation on tomcat v4.1.18 SSL security stuff? I downloaded the hotfix for disabling the invoker servlet. Inside the web.xml, the invoker servlet mapping was not commented out. Is the hotfix supposed to disable it or just work around it? !-- The mapping for the invoker servlet -- servlet-mapping servlet-nameinvoker/servlet-name url-pattern/servlet/*/url-pattern /servlet-mapping -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: mailto:tomcat-user-unsubscribe;jakarta.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: mailto:tomcat-user-help;jakarta.apache.org
RE: Servlets deployment directory location
Hi, Suppose I have this servlet \WEBAPPS\ROOT\WEB-INF\CLASSES\HelloServlet for versions 4.0.6 and before , I could use http://localhost:8080/servlet/HelloServlet; but now under 4.1.12, it is no longer working. It just cannot find it at all. However, normal HTML pages can still be accessed just like before. I am using Win98 and Win2000, so I do not jave symbolic links. Also, for versions 4.0.6 and before, to access the Tomcat homepage I could use http://localhost:8080;, which no longer works for me with 4.1.12 on Win98 (but it works on Win2000) Do I need to change something in the deployment desctiptors so that I can find the servlets? Thanks Hi, The WEB-INF/classes and WEB-INF/lib directories are where you can deploy servlets and other compiled Java things for your web application. This is not a tomcat-specific structure, it's part of the Servlet Specification. And it hasn't changed from tomcat 4.0 to 4.1. However, some other things that have changed between the above releases may be giving you the illusion the WEB-INF/classes is ignored. For example, some symbolic linking that used to be allowed isn't allowed anymore. Do you have any such symbolic links under WEB-INF? What kind of error messages are you getting?
