I have the same problem here. If you tail -f the catalina log it never
completes the startup. It hangs trying to set the context for admin for me.
Can somebody let us know what we are doing wrong?

You need the compatibility stuff:
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/downloads/downloads_tomcat-5.cgi
Search for compat on that page, and you'll see it.
