Re: tomcat default page

2005-06-29 Thread Tim Diggins
Are you aware that what is show at http://www.mydomain.com:8080 is the
output of the ROOT webapp? You can change this webapp as you like (ofr
example to one that just displays an single error page for example).
IMHO, best to change this using a deployment method rather than editing
the expanded root webapp in place. Some suggestions for mechanisms are
at (diddn't find a similar page in the tomcat docs):

I install tomcat on my machine and my webapp can be

If I type http://www.mydomain.com:8080, the default

page to something else, or forbid it?

Thanks,

You need to and a Context element to the server.xml file with a
zero-length path attribute. Check out
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/config/context.html.

Subject: Tomcat Default page

Hi,
I am new to tomcat so bear with me. I set tomcat 5 up on a server
today and
it is working. I then setup webMathematica 2 and that is working fine.
However,
when I go to the address http://localhost the page shown is the default
tomcat
page. What I would like to do is have the address http://localhost bring
up the
webMathematica program. Can anyone shed some light onto how I can
acomplish
this? Thank you in advance

I'm not familiar with WebMathematica, but since you're running it
through Tomcat it's probably some kind of Java webapp.

If that's the case, check the Tomcat docs for root context.

a_file_for_case_your_own_welcome_file_does_not_exist_and_to_prevent_tomcat_f
rom_listing_the_directory.html
