Well stated JC!! I fully agree. The local QRM is getting worse each year with all those LED:s and other , mostly tiny things radiating several hundreds meters. Only two ways to go:1 Identify the QRM source and get rid of it, 2: Try to improve your RX antennas. To me, a 160 QSO is between 2 OPS

Hi guys Last night I spent some time calling CQ DX on 1821.5. Just a few weak qrp Eu:s showed up. Then 9M2AX came on with a nice signal thru the QRN. That was it. LU8 xx was trying to hear Ross but I believe they did not make it. QRN all over EU makes the band sound dead. Cu 73 Len SM7BIC

Paul, If I were you I would ground both towers and put them 1/4 wavelength apart on 160. Grounded towers are easily fed by using a curtain or at least a few wires dropped from the top, distance to towers at least 1.5m. If you add some top load wires on the towers you would come close to 1.83 MHz.

As many have stated Mike was a great OP. We did have our first 160 QSO in April 1982, the first ever between VK and SM btw. I was surprised over the signal he was putting out. Since then many more QSOs were to follow but we never managed to make a complete RTTY QSO on 160 even thou we tried.
