Topband never ceases to amaze me. This morning coffee group and Aussie oil burners I worked Kev VK6LW first with 700W. I followed a bit later with AMP drive power of 25W. Sitting in wonder I again called and got 449 running 5W for 15, 553km path. Timing is a virtue. Of note pointed out by Tree

Hey, this morning I heard W1AW beacon with  539  here in DL,and my RBN reports in NA were not bad. I called CQ 1 hour, but only 3 QSOs,K3UL, NV3N and K9OT  this morning in my log, cant't hear  VK6WZ Steve today, yesterday I worked Steve with 539 QSB.Hope next days will be better. 73 Andy

A related issue is that frequencies ending in 0 and 5 tend to attract casual operators who can't hear DX. Many times I have heard them start up and call CQ on top of DX. I like to choose a frequency ending in 2.5 to avoid the casual ops. On the high end of 40, this neatly avoids BCB stations,

Yes, superb condx. Called cq for abt 3hours, many RBN-spots from NA over 30db. 15 NA in the log. Guess lot`s of folk have free from job. kh2/n2nl works 60-70 EU in 1hour...LA is not KH2, but it may display something. NA: little less conversation (on reflector) little more action! Remember
