I am now planning a FCP installation mounted on the fence, offset with PVC
standoffs made from dimensioned PVC lumber. One leg ( 2 conductor side )

At a prior QTH in the 80's I used 3/4 PVC pipe and T's to support a length
of 3/4 CATV hardline as the shunt feed. A single piece of #12 didnt work
well at all at any spacing using bandwidth and pileup busting as the
criteria.

ZR and HAROLD, I have been having issues with the tie wraps breaking in the AZ
sun. I suspect the UV is getting to them badly. The metal ones don't break,
but I can't use those for shunt feeding, of course. Can you recommend a source
for ones that don't break? It is a real pain replacing
It must have been that counterfeit Stoli vodka that did it! Made in
Veneuzela from petroleum waste.

Using PVC pipe and their matching T's there is no need of tiewraps. A couple
of hose clamps just above the T will hold them in place.

ZR, Bruce and Bob, thanks for your info. There's the problem. I was
using the white ones and didn't know the black ones are UV resistant.
I'll check those out.
ZR, I need to use tie wraps in my case. I am not, currently, using PVC
so I need something that will not make electrical
That's sad to hear at such a young age. UA9YAB was a regular on 80 and 160
meters. I'm sure Alex gave many people his zone and DXCC, but most important
he was a human and a fellow Ham.
I hope we all work harder to be respectful and mature, and not stereotype
people with ignorant comments.

I learned a lesson a long time ago here, after I used big black tie-wraps on
all my cables on towers. I have white ties and

I've found that black Thomas Betts Ty-Raps are UV resistant, at least in
the Ohio sun. I think the TB p/n was TY-525-M.

I have some wide vinyl tape that I use to put 2 layers over the ty-wrap,
keeps the sun off.
Worked OK in a pinch (For now)
Best substance is stainless strap with a small fitting (Wraplock), lasts
forever.
Even a slick ratchet tightening device in the can, mercy what will they
think of next.
Did you mean black TB Ty-Raps from Home Depot?
