I run a lot of RG-11 here on long runs from the shack to my RX arrays
and use PL-259 crimp connectors. I have gone exclusively to the DX
Engineering connector, DXE-PL259CS8U. I crimp the shield and solder the
center pin.
No issues and they work fine here at W5ZN.

do not ever recall hearing signals from central Africa that strong at my
QTH. My noise floor at W5ZN is usually between -130 to -125 dB.
