Last update deleted my audio drivers and installed defaults that tie the front
and rear jacks together, makes a lot of digital programs not work.
Reinstalled my Realtek drivers and all back to life.
I use the rear output to the radio and the front for computer output like
YouTube, Music etc.
The amp has found a good hope

I have a nice amp gathering dust, three hole Alpha with QSK, grid protection,
WARC plate choke, new bandswitch, 2 x plate current meter, gumless cabinet and

amp still puts out between 500-900 watts. There are some
Hi all,
I had Uverse TV and 1 KW blew away their modem, anyone operating QRO using

I assume would have a box with DVR and WIFI. Any problem with any feature
being blown away or hash in recorded programs?
If it works better than my ATT and DirecTV I might go
First let me say I was the ARRL TVI coordinator back in the 70s and have a ton

Mine went away when I disconnected the receiver from WIFI.

I used to operate every year in the ARRL 160 contest starting in about 1975.
Tried every kind of short ground mounted vertical (less than 35 ft) devised by
man over a pretty extensive radial system I buried when the lot was just dirt.
Also shunt feeding the 35 ft tower, loaded sloper off the
Has full QSK and grid overdrive protections, tubes still put out 500-900W or
more, plated choke from AL-1500 so WARC bands OK.See my QRZ page for

Hate to see it going to waste. Cannot ship. Can be modified for 6M
Well it has only taken 20 years but I finally made DXCC on Topband so my super
powerful station will not be knocking you out of the pile ups anymore hi hi
You have to love Yorba Linda's 35 foot tower limit :-) Thanks to all that dug
me out of the noise.

There is no question. get them anyway you can mixed.
If you want an all CW, SSB or Digital, go for it but don't belittle guys that

In contests I call a lot of guys barefoot first and kick on the amp as needed.
Problem is usually a guy running full power can be heard out here but has an
S-8 noise level and can't hear 100W..Yes you can work a lot of DX with low
power, but as an ex-QRP club member I learned life if too short,
Hi all,
My current LB antenna is an old Create 40/80 Vertical mounted about 20 feet off
the ground with a bunch of radials at the base. I removed the Create 40 M trap
and extended the mast to about 35 feet. At about 33 feet I have a homemade 40M
trap in a horizontal wire out about 85 feet with
I have a nice 5' on a side tunable coax loop that goes from below 160 to about
4.5 mzh. free to the taking can't ship
There is also a KD9SV 160 PREAMP I modified to include the control of the loop
and a switch for two different RX antennas, that is $70if you take the loop too.
Hi all,
Does anyone know the uH of each section of the switched plate choke in newer
Alpha amps the work 160-10 including WARC bands?
Thanks,

My DSL is from U-verse 3K. I'm near the end of the line, it comes in fiber to
about 1/2-mile of the house then thru 45 yo phone wires. With the filter in,
160 RFI is cured but there is considerable loss and S/N reduction.

Gents,
I have an inverted L about 16' above ground with many radials on my roof.
Would the K2AV FCP be effective connected as a radial ? I have a DX
Engineering Choke at the feed point. The antenna has big traps for 40/80 and I
can tune it to any band with my 3 KW Nye Tuner so I don't want to
44 QSO's . I think 4 were above ESP/noise here.
Thanks for the repeats

Remember the PreStew coming on October 20th. http://www.kkn.net/stew
Hi all,
When I had my house tented I had to disconnect the radials on my inverted L.
There is a 20 foot pipe that sticks up about 3 feet above the roof and the
insulated vertical section is fed there with a big ferrite choke.
The radials were connected at the base 3 feet above the roof.

Hi all,
I recently built a sheilded RX loop for 160 per N6RKs Contest Jouranal artical.
It is diode tuned and covers about 1.5-4 mhz. I am hearing two AM radio
stations on 1830 khz.
They are 640 and 1190 combined. 640 is a 50KW station about 12 miles east and
1190 runs about 1.5 kw at night.
Thanks to all that replied.
I put on the thinking cap and connected the loop directly to the RX antenna and
the intermod is still there.
Getting out the ladder and changing the tuning diodes to the strong signal
configuration.
At least it is not the weekend of the 160 contest.
Rick,
Experts needed,
I am using an old Create vertical mounted 20 feet above ground with about 60
radials of various lenghts. I removed the original Create 40 meter trap because
it usually spit fire and extended the vertical to about 40 feet long. At about
33 feet I come off to a large homebrew
