I know there are guys in Canada who "power cheat" (or operate assisted or have a 2nd op) by entering as QRP or LP but are running the full bucket of goo.etc. So, whether remote, telnet (while claiming SO) or gobs of power, 2nd/3rd op, to my mind, there may only be one thing that might work?. Shaming. (although I don't think these fellas normally have high moral values) It's like I tell folks who I encounter who may hint at a cheat. 1-you have to sleep at night and 2-you have to look at that face in the mirror in the morning. Are you happy with who you see looking back? Mike VE9AA - While I hesitate to post this, at some point, this behavior needs to be called out for what it is. Believe it or not - there is a station who has a well established pattern of working DX on 160 meters from "California". I use quotes here, because this station claims to be in California, or the grid DM04, when they actually aren't. Six land is not that far from my QTH and during the CQ 160 CW contest, I was able to record the whole contest while this station worked about 45 Europeans - many before sunset in W6. With my QTH in Oregon about 1500 km away, I would easily be able to hear this station if they were transmitting from home. Contesting gives multipliers for states and when those states are not really what you are working, it makes things unfair. I know in the CQ 160 CW contest - those QSOs were removed and credit not given for the QSO. It was indicated in their report file (so those stations know clearly whom I am writing about). Just because someone says they are in one place, you should look for clues that maybe something isn't right. If you have any suspicions, please make note of them and inform the contest sponsor. Nothing copied from EU so I migrated to 80 ( not much) then 40, and finally to modulate the pillow. Last October I built a home brew 10M Moxon. using all left over plastic and aluminum. Its an ugly looking, tilted/slightly twisted thing ( holes drilled by "eye" and the eyes arent that accurate anymore!) but it works like gangbusters. Its on a 15 ft mast on the back patio, turned by the Armstrong Method. After an 8am start on 20m at my sunrise, I jumped to 10 since it was almost as busy and has a lot more elbow room. Wound up with 479 qsos in 11 hrs OTA, including 73 JA's, two DU's and one YJ plus a half dozen VK/ZL, nine KH6's and 8 KL7's. Overall the northern latitudes were ample, but not much from the equatorial regions or below. More Russian/Ukrainian stations that in recent past. 10M kept me busy all morning and for two hours around sunset. I had hoped to find more success on 160/80 and esp. on 40 into JA/VK - but not much doing. The Moxon is so close to the shack that when I beam JA ( through the shack) the rf keeps knocking my mouse offline, forcing me to pull the usb plug out and then reinsert. It corrects the problem until I transmit again. However I have better success when Im beaming EU, AF, SA and due west to the Pacific. Something about JA but at least I know the Moxon has some directionality. Speaking of JA ( and your music) I found a youtube video of Sing Sing Sing, played by an all Japanese Big Band. Very enjoyable! Musicians average age looked to be 65-70 but they were having fun! Complete with a few beards goutees and snappy mustaches. The applicant simply submits a screen print showing the LOTW confirmation, which includes the county, grid, and IOTA if the other station has entered it. This is also their method for accepting eQSL! Hi It all worked out for me. The goal was to hear as many North American and Caribbean stations as possible. The result is 40 QSOs with stations from the USA and 5 from Canada + PJ2,P4,KP2 I have sound recordings of all QSOs. If anyone is interested, I can send the file after February 3. But to the east on Friday the conditions were. I had a great QSO with VK3HJ. Hey Due to protracted problems, I was only able to arrive at my station on January 15th. Installed a new beverage in the USA, Australia and a switch on four receiving antennas ( The switch is made by UW7LL ). http://www.topband.in.ua/2022/01/17/beverage-for-vk-and-a-new-switchboard-at-station-uy0zg/ The conditions were quite weak ( A = 22 ) . But I managed to hear over ten North American stations. And the real situation is as follows - almost all participants in contests from Europe and Asia cannot use frequencies below 1810. We see that half of the participants are in unequal conditions.
