The poor tags are very likely the culprit. LMS can only catalog/index

aubuti - I cleared the W7 My Music folder of all content when I started
using the SBT; it's still empty. I use a library folder with the same
name in a HDD root directory. LMS points to the My Music in the root

As to your other points:-
1. No shortcuts.
2.
Is it correct to assume when you say that you "browse by artist/album"
you mean you are browsing using the directory structure of your files?
Are you sure you're not getting "Music Folder" mixed up with "My Music",
which are different menu levels? That is, you are doing _everything_ via

Thanks for all the comments, here are some answers.
SlimChances - I use the music folder and browse by artist/album.
aubuti - I use both servers but when accessing the PC I use LMS. It is
LMS that I am talking about here i.e. I rescan the music folder (which
has no dupes) yet LMS always shows mu
Let me guess, your library is WAV files? :)
With poor tags you are limited to using Music Folder for anything even
close to reliable. Also make sure your Playlist folder is not in the
same folder as your music files as this will display as duplicates.

In all your ranting you haven't bothered saying whether you are using
the Touch's built-in server or are running LMS on a proper computer. If

rescan rather than just scanning for new music

I don't use tags.

This is an ongoing fault.
Initially, LMS scanned the music folder OK but soon got out of sync.
Now, most folders in LMS point to to completely wrong music.
The SBT itself is useless - it cannot play what is in the music folder:
worse, it lists a whole load of spurious folders for the same artis
