An error occurred when reading /etc/profile
Unfortunately, the fix doesn't work for me. After reboot, the screen brightness
is always on the minimum level.

Well, I've done some research on this
Seems like plugging the headphones in makes pulseaudio change the audio
sink port. You can see that by using the
pacmd list | grep active port
and when you change active port back to analog-output-speaker with
headphones connected, everything works fine.
Would like to see Canonical start testing Ubuntu on all Microsoft
Surface devices that it can be installed on. This is an important form
factor and vector for the Ubuntu.

[Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last
A bit more info. I found that enabling the use dark variant in the terminal
options make the
problem disappear for the terminal.
I then used Tweak Tool to enable the Global Dark option and the
problem disappears altogether.
I then disabled Global Dark option from the Tweak Tool and chose the
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I had an email conversation with Mr. Didier Roche (with CC to Mr. James Hunt,
Upstart package maintainer) , who commited the change which moved files such as
/sbin/init and /sbin/shutdown from upstart (1.13.2-0ubuntu10) to upstart-sysv
(1.13.2-0ubuntu12):
sorry to spam here but this is working now. I don't know why sometimes
it works and sometimes not. (I mean working with the systemd work-around
enabled in /etc/systemd/logind.conf)
