but it seems that GitLab is not yet supported by Launchpad, the link in

for me.
The other problem I find is that gnome-power-manager sets some policy
actions and systemd sets others. For example systemd is controlling the
lid action but gnome power manager is controlling the timeout action.

After some more reading, I'll start look at another avenue... possibly
try to create a target unit specifically for friendly-recovery. This is
purely an hypothesis but think it's worth looking.

on official bionic , upgraded from artful:
systemd-udevd eats lot cpu , trying to repeatly modprobe nvidia
indefinitly , while it is not install in this computer :
it is on a usb bootable ssd disk. i boot it on several computers, some
have nvidia, some have not.

I've installed Lubuntu 18.04 and found that problem:
the display-manager service complains:

So it sounds like a race between Xorg and the ubiquity perms dropping
which then breaks Xorg's ability to authenticate XShmAttach used in
cairo.

OK, I can now reproduce the problem at scale=100%. The trick is to slow
down the installer with GDK_SYNCHRONIZE=1. So this is just a race
condition, usually triggered by slower rendering of scale 200%, but can
be triggered other ways.
