I'm reporting this against xorg, because of where the problem occurs, as
indicated below, I can't tell if the problem is with xorg, lightdm or
light-locker. The system is a Dell Optiplex 745 single-booting to
Xubuntu 20.04 up-to-date as of today.

Tested openssh on bionic and groovy, same issue.
The switch to systemd lost the ability to do a sanity check on the
config file (via sshd -t) before attempting to restart sshd. This was
originally bug #624361 in the SySV days, fixed in the initscript back
then.

No longer affects openlp 2.4.0 and 2.4.6, which OpenLP at GitLab has
declared a WontFix. Awaiting 2.9.1 (unreleased as of 29 January 2021)
for focal-proposed, groovy-proposed, and hirsute-proposed. I's able to
get the EL1210-09 fully up by cherrypicking packages appropriate for
nVIDIA 390.nn
I tested this out with focal -proposed and don't see any issues. Looks
OK to me.

Very superficial report, but methodical.
Installed and booted OK this time, from install as similar as possible to
process that encountered bug.
Differences:
1. Installed from livedisk Ubuntu still running after install failure, rather
than direct from boot.
2. Did not create partitions, but

I'd suspect a local python-cffi more than a local jack. The jack module

Same, neither myself nor len-ovenwerks can reproduce. I suppose it's
possible that the user installed the jack library by hand on the second
one as well, and might even be the same user.

Dug around on errors.ubuntu.com and found some examples:
https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/2927dbb958eff4c58515acaca3ed657506e33ed8
This is a user who installed the jack library by hand into
.local/lib/python3.8/site-packages
So, I think we can ignore that one.
