So I upgraded from 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS too and found that the
installed 5.4 kernel panics complaining something about volume group. I
booted the 4.15 kernel wich put in a volume group warning too but at
least runs. After adding 8.8.8.8 to the resolv.conf the machine is
almost ready to work with

I had the same issue. Thanks for the hint with libssl1.1 being the
cause. I disabled all PPAs and then reinstalled libssl1.1 as well as

I can confirm this bug still exists on ubuntu 14.04.4
It only seems to happen to CRON entries although the github bugreport
referenced in #14 confirms the problem is with rsyslog.
Supposedly setting '$RepeatedMsgReduction off' in /etc/rsyslog.conf should work

That piglit sanity is failing with the patch may confirm my suspicion
that something doesn't add up yet I'm afraid: Since the kernel driver
and xf86-video-ati EXA code are using the same hardware formats for
display/rendering with BE & LE, I was wondering how the patch could
result in both display
Updating from 15.10 to 16.04 final and I've got the same error and a lot
of others (log file attached). But I think there is a link with the
primary (this one).
At the final step (1 hour later), the updating process said that because
of errors, he will try to re-install the 15.10 ;-( But
Can this please be fixed in Trusty? Seems pretty essential to have a
working DHCP server in an LTS release.

Just hit the same bug : got the same :inflate returned -3 while rsync'ing an
8G VM disk .vdi file from a Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS server to a Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS
one
Removed the -z flag sis the trick as well

It also happens to me using Ubuntu 14.10 with xorg 7.7.
Please attach the full /var/log/Xorg.0.log and output of dmesg
corresponding to that here.

This was the test case:
1) Update trusty daily root-tgz image with a copy of dcap and cap properties.
2) Sync image to cache
3) Deploy a node with trusty
4) Access deployed node
5) Ensure that cap properties for the new file are preserved on deployed system.
This test passed.
Here are test
I tested this by installing systemd from Proposed onto image then doing
update-initramfs -u. I still saw the issue.
