This problem fix is contained in this branch:
https://code.launchpad.net/~artmello/gallery-app/gallery-app-new_header/+merge/231601
(which replaces the toolbar with the new header, fixing the problem since the
toolbar was creating a MouseArea on top of the pinch area causing the problem).

Zooming out is possible, just not by using and un-pinching gesture.
Regardless, if it supports pinch it should also support un-pinch.
