I have gnome-calendar installed on Ubuntu 19.04, and gedit is still
displayed as the only available choice in the default app settings. The
workaround was to run the following: gio mime text/calendar
org.gnome.Calendar.desktop
Now gnome-calendar appears as the default (and only) calendar app...

GEdit is the only choice as Calendar
there is now a calendar installed by default but the bug still exists,
if you uninstall it's still going to list gedit so the bug is not really
fixed, just workarounded

I just found GNOME Calendar installed by default on my Ubuntu Xenial
Xerus desktop after a recent partial upgrade, which as a side effect
finally fixes this bug. Perhaps this should now be marked as Fix
Committed or something?
