Also happening to me. Just bought an Acer Aspire F with intel i3 core.
Installed Ubuntu 16.04 (Dual Boot)
Touch pad works perfectly well with Windows 10 (ouch)

Seems that even completely disabling the hanging tests is not enough
now. Doing that results in failing tests on arm64 and armhf.

I have same problem. I need to kill unattended-upgrades service manually
to shutdown machine. This problem comes in 2017 year.
System is Ubuntu 16.04 x86_64.

If an autossh process is started by /etc/rc.local, a xenial system is no
longer able to shut down. It seems to hang forever, not just for a few
minutes.
Repro steps:
As root:
# Set up an autossh tunnel (in this example, from localhost to localhost):
apt-get install
We have changes in lp:unity-scopes-api/devel to work with the new
version of googletest/googlemock that haven't been landed on trunk yet.
So fixing this is probably going to be as simple as building a new
release.

is there also anything special about your avahi configuration? could be
worth also using gdb to get a backtrace of the service when it's using
the cpu...

I don't think I've seen this since this update over a month ago:
xserver-xorg-video-intel:amd64 (2:2.99.917+git20160325-1ubuntu1.2)
So it may have been fixed.

Oh come on, I monitor machines via SSH remote execution of scripts -
Icinga logs in every minute. You might get the picture in regard to this
bug. We're waiting for six month now. How should anyone take Ubuntu
serious anymore? *sadface*
