Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1661287] Re: Canon printer failed to connect with CUPS
I have gone into https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems and tried to follow the instructions of the "CUPS error_log" section. Step 1. I can't do it. Can't find "Save debugging information for troubleshooting" on "System" -> "Administration" -> "Printing". I have System Setting --> Printers --> Help --> Troubleshoot --> Forward. I get the message CUPS Service Stopped The CUPS print speel does not appear to be running. To correct this, choose System-Administration-Services from main menu and look for 'cups' service. My difficulty is there isn't such a path to follow. The is no Administration icon. Step 2: @Eliot:~$ cupsctl LogLevel=debug cupsctl: Unable to connect to server: Bad file descriptor Step 3: Skipped - Not applicable. Step4: I have gone into /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and manually uncommented LogLevel Original: # Deactivate CUPS' internal logrotating, as we provide a better one, especially # LogLevel debug2 gets usable now MaxLogSize 0 Presently: # Deactivate CUPS' internal logrotating, as we provide a better one, especially LogLevel debug2 gets usable now MaxLogSize 0 @Eliot:~$ $ sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart $: command not found The file is there. I believe Ubuntu16.04 is using systemd. I tried this and got the below failure message. @Eliot:~$ sudo systemctl restart /etc/systemd/system/cups.service Failed to restart etc-systemd-system-cups.service.mount: Unit etc-systemd-system-cups.service.mount not found. Unable to do Step 5,6, 7, 8. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1661836] Re: supertux 2 doesn't start
dinamic, you are a star... Unfortunately I can think of a few reasons why this might happen. 1. Unity8 server died (although you would have noticed) 2. Apparmour problems 3. Fullscreen apps may crash the server in Mir 0.26.0 (bug 1661508) And worse, when I try to test supertux under Mir right now it fails for a 4th reason: $ mirrun /usr/games/supertux2 [FATAL] /build/supertux-LmXSob/supertux-0.5.1/src/supertux/main.cpp:510 Unexpected exception: Couldn't initialize SDL: Failed to connect to the mir server: Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory Which sounds like a known issue with non-root users not being able to auto-discover the Mir socket path. However then running it as root also fails (SDL crashes trying to use X11). I can't tell where the cause of this bug is. Might also be in SDL. ** Also affects: libsdl2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: supertux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: supertux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: libsdl2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1661836 Title: supertux 2 doesn't start Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in Mir: New Status in libsdl2 package in Ubuntu: New Status in supertux package in Ubuntu: New Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: 17.04 / unity8 session from what i understand this is an SDL2 app and should work on unity8, it did before $ journalctl --user-unit ubuntu-app-launch-application-legacy-supertux2-1486212780752430.service -- Logs begin at Sat 2017-02-04 14:24:38 EET, end at Sat 2017-02-04 14:55:01 EET. -- Feb 04 14:53:00 pixel-desktop systemd[3969]: Starting ubuntu-app-launch-application-legacy-supertux2-1486212780752430.service... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1662042] [NEW] Black screen after resuming from sleep with nvidia drivers on 16.04
Public bug reported: This happens on an ASUS ZenBook UX303UB, with nvidia-375 installed. I'm able to connect to the host through SSH. I have run the apport-bug tool when the display was black. The problem is not present when I switch back to using the Intel GPU using Nvidia's tool (through nvidia-prime). So far, I have done the following tests, following reports from other users: - Switched to kernel 4.8 - Tried with both nvidia-370 and nvidia-375 - Tried with fix to backlight (http://askubuntu.com/questions/820955/blank-screen-after-resume-dell-m5510-ubuntu-16-04/823523) - Configured ligthdm idle-timeout to 3 seconds and see if the display came back (due to an old bug affecting older versions) Bumblebee is not installed. I have seen several issues / questions that seems similar to this one, but I couldn't find a solution / workaround, other than disabling Nvidia's GPU. I appreciate any help to debug this. Related commentary #28 from Ask thread: [] "This all seems to be related to http://www.grymoire.com/unix/CshTop10.txt (search for 'Illegal variable name.') Still there is the open question, why you get different results between "grep -E ..." and "egrep ..." [Touch-packages] [Bug 1662026] [NEW] /usr/share/doc/libkmod2/changelog.Debian.gz has been changed
Public bug reported: I regularly run debsums to check if any files changed on the server based on hashes from packages. Since I upgraded from LTS 14.04 to 16.04, the /usr/share/doc/libkmod2/changelog.Debian.gz has been regularly detected as changed. I can fix that by reinstalling the package (apt-get install --reinstall libkmod2), but soon debsums again detect it as being changed. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1651923] Re: apt https method decodes redirect locations and sends them to the destination undecoded.
Before version 1.2.19, I was able to automatically upgrade package "gitlab-ce" using unattended-upgrades. The update to version 1.2.19 seems to render my configuration useless. >From file `apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades`: Unattended-Upgrade::Origins-Pattern { "origin=https://packages.gitlab.com/gitlab/gitlab-ce,archive=${distro_codename}";; }; With version 1.2.19, `unattended-upgrade --debug` outputs: [...] Allowed origins are: ['o=Ubuntu,a=xenial', 'o=Ubuntu,a=xenial-security', 'o=Ubuntu,a=xenial-updates', 'origin=https://packages.gitlab.com/gitlab/gitlab-ce,archive=xenial'] Checking: gitlab-ce ([]) [...] Thus, 'https://' seems to be missing now from checked property 'origin'. While it is quite easy to fix this, version 1.2.19 might inadvertently break the configuration of many people. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1651923 Title: apt https method decodes redirect locations and sends them to the destination undecoded. Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Xenial: Fix Released Status in apt source package in Yakkety: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Downloads via HTTPS fail if the URL contains a space (before yakkety only if there is no redirect from a previous space-free https URL). This breaks packages like ttf-mscorefonts-installer and various third party hosters. [Test case] Install/Upgrade apt-transport-https, that's where the fix is. Check that /usr/lib/apt/apt-helper download-file http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/repo/pool/free/ardour4_4.7.0-1kxstudio1_i386.deb test.deb can successfully download the file (or at least start downloading it) and does not fail early with a 505 HTTP version not supported error message. This problem does not occur with that file on xenial, as it first redirects to an https URI without a space which then redirects to an HTTPS uri with a space (http w/o space -> https w/o space -> https w/ space). In xenial, https->https redirects where handled internally by curl. Another test (applicable to xenial) is to install ttf-mscorefonts- installer. [Regression potential] The added code is: Uri.Path = QuoteString(Uri.Path, "+~ "); Some servers might not like + or ~ being quoted. We use the same quoting call for the http method too, though, so it seems highly unlikely to cause an issue. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1464990] Re: Job for dnsmasq.service failed because the control process exited with error code
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1531184 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1531184 Running 16.04.1 and this fix doesn't seem to make a difference. Feb 5 10:55:56 ubuntu systemd[1]: dnsmasq.service: Start-post operation timed out. Stopping. Feb 5 10:55:56 ubuntu dnsmasq[31933]: exiting on receipt of SIGTERM Feb 5 10:55:56 ubuntu systemd[1]: Failed to start dnsmasq - A lightweight DHCP and caching DNS server. Feb 5 10:55:56 ubuntu systemd[1]: dnsmasq.service: Failed with result 'timeout'. /lib/systemd/system/dnsmasq.service is where I added the 2 lines so it looks like this: [Unit] Description=dnsmasq - A lightweight DHCP and caching DNS server Requires=network.target After=network-online.target Wants=network-online.target Yet the error still happens: ubuntu systemd[1]: nss-lookup.target: Job nss-lookup.target/start failed with result 'dependency'. I ran a apt --purge and removed dnsmasq completely, then reinstalled it. Got the same nss-lookup.target error. Based on some other bugs, maybe dnsmasq didn't have it's interface defined properly. So I added the interface=enp6s0 line to the dnsmasq.conf file. Restarting the service still yields the same nss-lookup.target error. To get back to a working system, either a reboot or run "service dnsmasq start" instead of restart. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1464990 Title: Job for dnsmasq.service failed because the control process exited with error code Status in dnsmasq package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Got an error while upgrading: Setting up dnsmasq-base (2.72-3.1build1) ... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1572807] Re: /bin/nano:*** Error in `nano': double free or corruption (!prev): ADDR ***
(Oh! For some reason I am not getting all of the bug mail from Launchpad. At least: I missed notifications about this bug.) Hm... It seems that free() on Ubuntu checks that nothing was written outside of the allocated space? Does malloc() put a "canary" at the tail? Anyway, I am pretty sure that the patch attached to bug #1641592 will fix this crash. It is same patch as the second one attached to https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/nano-devel/2016-04/msg00075.html, which was applied upstream nearly a year ago. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to nano in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1572807 Title: /bin/nano:*** Error in `nano': double free or corruption (!prev): ADDR *** Status in nano package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The Ubuntu Error Tracker has been receiving reports about a problem regarding nano. Same, Code::Blocks 16.01, Ubuntu Desktop 16.04 x64 with all current updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gdb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/469005 Title: GDB: Failed to set controlling terminal Status in Code::Blocks: New Status in gdb: New Status in gdb package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: netbeans Im using Ubuntu 9.10 and Netbeans 6.7 and gdb 7.0, and it keeps complaining that gdb couldnt get control of the terminal, it seems tht gdb used in ubuntu 9.10 is newer than netbeans can accept. Maybe keep a special gdb 6.8 like a dependency for netbeans would solve this problem.
