The dpkg frontend starting earlier takes the lock until it is finished.
20.04's unattended-upgrades is much faster, BTW.

Generally, ifupdown is no longer recommended (or supported). It's
recommended to move to netplan, or at least to directly configuring
networkd or network-manager.

2. Stop setting GTK_IM_MODULE also on Xorg (we already don't set it on Wayland)
in case of a GNOME desktop, which would be a change to the im-config package.

After a suspend/resume cycle with HDMI plugged in, it seems that
pulseaudio doesn't recognize anymore the internal analog device
(speakers/headphones) and I hear no sound. Before suspend I see two

On HP Thunderbolt Dock, unusable SPDIF can be selected as output from
PulseAudio.
[Fix]
Disable IEC958 (SPDIF) through ALSA UCM.
[Test]
With the UCM applied, `pactl` and audio panel in gnome-control-center no longer
have SPDIF option.
