[Touch-packages] [Bug 1892559] Re: [MIR] ccid opensc pcsc-lite
Thank you Marco and Sebastien, > * the launchpad buglist has been triaged a bit and fixed issues closed Thanks! >From your bug cleanup did you spot any kind of setup/HW that you want to >restrict/exclude? Was there any common pattern that makes up most of the formerly seen bad reports? > * the dh_missing has been reported to Debian now, https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=987817 Yeah, I think that is enough for now. > the libraries are private (no .so provided, other softwares can't really build with it), ideally they would move it to a subdir but do we really need .symbols added in such cases? I agree this is a case where it is a tough decision if it is strictly required due to them being "meant" private. But I'd not agree that there are no .so files provided. root@h:~# dpkg -L opensc opensc-pkcs11 | grep '\.so' /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopensc.so.7.0.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libsmm-local.so.7.0.0 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/onepin-opensc-pkcs11.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opensc-pkcs11.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11-spy.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libopensc.so.7 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libsmm-local.so.7 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/onepin-opensc-pkcs11.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/opensc-pkcs11.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pkcs11/pkcs11-spy.so $ nm --dynamic $(dpkg -L opensc-pkcs11 | grep '\.so' | xargs) | pastebinit https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/7SpfQ5gW26/ So there are in theory symbols, but I agree it still is not really usable (or meant to be used). As there are for example no headers for it :-) And OTOH adding symbols files is a rather trivial task that protects against some bad breakage. So is it strictly mandatory: hmm, debatable ... I guess no. I'd say as prereq add symbols OR move to subdir - of which the latter is the much more useful and correct thing to do. And as there are no other users you won't have to touch any other package for that change. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pcsc-lite in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892559 Title: [MIR] ccid opensc pcsc-lite Status in ccid package in Ubuntu: New Status in opensc package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in pam-pkcs11 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in pcsc-lite package in Ubuntu: New Status in pcsc-perl package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in pcsc-tools package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: ==> ccid <== [Availability] ccid is in universe, and builds on all architectures. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1925973] Re: Nvidia driver 450.119 crashes lxpanel on Ubuntu 18.04
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => lxpanel (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: lxpanel (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925973 Title: Nvidia driver 450.119 crashes lxpanel on Ubuntu 18.04 Status in lxpanel package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Running Ubuntu 18.04 with the LXDE desktop. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1926068] Re: INTEL HD DRIVERS
Thanks for the bug report. It appears there are two problems here: 1. You are using the 'oibaf' PPA which is unsupported and is known to cause graphics problems. Please uninstall it or at least don't report bugs while it is installed. 2. There is a recent regression in the Intel kernel driver so please subscribe to bug 1924624 for that. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1926068 Title: INTEL HD DRIVERS Status in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Hi, i installed Ubuntu LTS Version, everything is good but i have a little problem so... Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment to this bug report it seems that there may be a problem with your hardware. I'd recommend performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you might take include checking cable connections and using software tools to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to New. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1926254] Re: x509 Certificate verification fails when basicConstraints=CA:FALSE, pathlen:0 on self-signed leaf certs
Hi Seth, Thanks for the review. I read the commit you found: commit 1e41dadfa7b9f792ed0f4714a3d3d36f070cf30e Author: Dr. David von Oheimb Date: Sat Jun 27 16:16:12 2020 +0200 Subject: Extend X509 cert checks and error reporting in v3_{purp,crld}.c and x509_{set,vfy}.c Link: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/1e41dadfa7b9f792ed0f4714a3d3d36f070cf30e Firstly, yes, you are right, this commit does refactor the code I am suggesting we SRU to focal and groovy, but upon further inspection, this commit was not backported to the 1.1.1 stable series, as it is missing from the OpenSSL_1_1_1-stable branch. As you mentioned, it is a fairly invasive change and modifies a lot of different x509 components, it isn't suitable to be backported to 1.1.1 stable anyway, and much less be acceptable for SRU to focal or groovy. I think we should stick to the small targeted commits I suggested for this SRU, since they are a part of 1.1.1 stable, and are already in hirsute onward. To test that the logic from the suggested commits to SRU matches this new refactor commit from version 3.0alpha, I went and built the master branch of openssl, which had commit d1a770414acd34c774248ce8efbe202fd7a44041 at HEAD. $ env LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/home/ubuntu/openssl/" ../openssl/apps/openssl version OpenSSL 3.0.0-alpha16-dev (Library: OpenSSL 3.0.0-alpha16-dev ) $ env LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/home/ubuntu/openssl/" ../openssl/apps/openssl verify -CAfile CA/rootCA_cert.pem -untrusted CA/subCA_cert.pem user1_cert.pem user1_cert.pem: OK The logic matches and the reproducer certificates verify OK. This confirms we aren't backporting a short lived change, and that this behaviour is the desired and accepted outcome. @ddstreet Please go ahead and sponsor the SRU to -updates, thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to openssl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1926254 Title: x509 Certificate verification fails when basicConstraints=CA:FALSE,pathlen:0 on self-signed leaf certs Status in openssl package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in openssl source package in Focal: In Progress Status in openssl source package in Groovy: In Progress Status in openssl source package in Hirsute: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] In openssl 1.1.1f, the below commit was merged: commit ba4356ae4002a04e28642da60c551877eea804f7 Author: Bernd Edlinger Date: Sat Jan 4 15:54:53 2020 +0100 Subject: Fix error handling in x509v3_cache_extensions and related functions Link: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/ba4356ae4002a04e28642da60c551877eea804f7 This introduced a regression which caused certificate validation to fail when certificates violate RFC 5280 [1], namely, when a certificate has "basicConstraints=CA:FALSE,pathlen:0". This combination is commonly seen by self-signed leaf certificates with an intermediate CA before the root CA. Because of this, openssl 1.1.1f rejects these certificates and they cannot be used in the system certificate store, and ssl connections fail when you try to use them to connect to a ssl endpoint. The error you see when you try verify is: $ openssl verify -CAfile CA/rootCA_cert.pem -untrusted CA/subCA_cert.pem user1_cert.pem error 20 at 0 depth lookup: unable to get local issuer certificate error user1_cert.pem: verification failed The exact same certificates work fine on Xenial, Bionic and Hirsute. [Touch-packages] [Bug 124440] Re: [enhancement] Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse wheel scrolling speed
For gnome-control-center, this bug report was watching https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=692666 so far. While still relevant, the Gnome Project has stopped using this bug tracker and has since shifted to their Gitlab instance for bug tracking. A closely related upstream bug report, which should have higher relevance for Ubuntu (after shifting to XWayland), is https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/1016, so I've updated the remote watch for gnome-control-center. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues #1016 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/1016 ** Changed in: gnome-control-center Importance: Medium => Unknown ** Changed in: gnome-control-center Remote watch: bugzilla.gnome.org/ #692666 => gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues #1016 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124440 Title: [enhancement] Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse wheel scrolling speed Status in gnome-control-center: Unknown Status in GTK+: New Status in Mir: Fix Released Status in Unity: Invalid Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in mir package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in ubuntu-system-settings package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: This has been driving me nuts for a while now.
