[Touch-packages] [Bug 1291930] Re: Menus do not work while VNC screen of virt-manager is active
Hm, actually I forgot about this and at least for 14.04 (Trusty) this is fixed by now. Might have been some intermediate problem during development, too. I had cases where for some unknown reasons parts of the touch image binaries leaked into desktop. As long as this has not re-surfaced in current development (Utopic) we should close this report. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1291930 Title: Menus do not work while VNC screen of virt-manager is active Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Release: Trusty (updated 2013-03-13 11:00 UTC) Architecture: amd64 Testcase: Start virt-manager and launch a VM guest. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1350220] [NEW] hibernation fails because 99video does not terminate
Public bug reported: When I initiate an hibernation on my computer, the following frequently happens (about 50% of the time) : 1. screen goes black (normal) ; 2. instead of showing the progress of the writing of RAM to disk in console mode, the screen remains black ; 3. the screensaver prompt for login appears ; 4. after returning to desktop, I see that the network card is not functioning ; 5. /var/log/pm-suspend.log last line is Running hook /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video hibernate hibernate:. Indeed, a ps -ef | grep 99video shows that the /usr/lib/pm- utils/sleep.d/99video script is still running. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1349983] Re: GDBus.Error:com.google.code.AccountsSSO.SingleSignOn.Error.NoConnection: Host accounts.google.com not found while network available
Quick feedback on the error. 1st it appears as a network error. Either because a DNS lookup failed (accounts.google.com) or because somehow the plugin checked some erroneous NetworkManager API telling it the network was done. It seems you end up on line 163 in base-plugin.cpp of the OAuth2 module: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~online-accounts/signon-plugin-oauth2/trunk/view/head:/src/base-plugin.cpp#L163 And that could be due to that NetworkManager interface getting confused. There is a non-existing display detected, known as Unknown Display. The bug is all in all very similar, if not a duplicate, of bug #1296020. However, as I am using Nouveau rather than Nvidia-331 and have different hardware, I thought it better to make a new report. The bug renders GDM impossible to use while Lightdm works. When logging in to Gnome Shell, the screen goes black from time to time (upon loading the shell), this I can solve by using the laptop hardware keys for switching video output. I tried the proprietary drivers and the fix committed to trusty- proposed due to bug #1296020 (ubuntu-drivers-common 1:0.2.91.6) with no avail. It seems that whatever solved the issue for a non-existing display for Nvidia-331 users is not causing the problem for those who are using Nouveau. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1103593] Re: Unity always shows all devices in launcher when CD is inserted
I recently moved form 12.04 to 14.04 (through a clean upgrade, keeping home partition) and so dar this is the only serious bug I have encountered. It affects me both opn removing an audio-cd as noted above (have not tested with other optical media) and, more annoyingly, on removing my android (google nexus 4) phone. Detailed description of setup and behavior: - I have a number of NFS shares on a home server that are mounted through fstab. -After installing Trusty these all appeared in the launcher. Right clicking one of them and selcting 'unlock form launcher' removed them all. - On inserting a CD or plugging my phone in nothing happens in the launcher (ideaally these devices would show up, but no big deal) - On ejecting the disc or plugging out the phone all the other mounted drives, including nfs shares reappear in the launcher and need to again be 'unlocked from launcher') - Pendrives do behave correctly: they show up seperately in the launcher on being inserted, and dissapear upon 'eject' either via filemanager or ddirectly through the launcher. - I also have to USB-3 hard drives that show a mixture of these behaviors. They appear seperately in the launcher upon turning them on (good). If I select unmount in the filemanager they remain visible in the launcher and dissapear upon turning them off. However, if I select 'safely remove dirve, either through the launcher or filemanager, they briefly dissappear and reappear along with all the NFS shares in the launcher. NB: this last behavior seems related to Nemo being deafault file manager. With Nautilus there is no 'safely remove' option either in launcher or in file manager, instead I can 'unmount' through launcher and then turn the drive off. All other behavior appears identical regardless of default file manager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1103593 Title: Unity always shows all devices in launcher when CD is inserted Status in Unity: Confirmed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In Ubuntu 12.10 the default behavior when inserting a CD (or a USB memory stick, etc.) is to add a list of mounted devices to the launcher. This takes up a lot of extra space for me as I usually have several Samba mounts. Furthermore, I don't need or want to see my CD in the launcher. I can click right on the mounted devices and select Unlock from launcher, but the next time I insert a CD they're back. Disabling this feature should be an option in 12.10. I believe it was an option in 12.04 via CCSM. Thanks. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1350263] [NEW] Fix handling of /dev/uinput
Public bug reported: The current autopilot rule does that: # Creates autopilot group specific access to /dev/uinput KERNEL==uinput, SUBSYSTEM==misc, SYMLINK=autopilot-uinput, GROUP=autopilot, MODE=0660 But on our Ubuntu Touch images, at least on mako, we have other rules which also change the permissions: rules.d/70-android.rules:ACTION==add, KERNEL==uinput, OWNER=system, GROUP=bluetooth, MODE=0660 There are multiple things which are wrong with this: * We need to stop abusing groups for device permissions. They also apply to remote logins which we really don't want to, and cause conflicts liek this. * There is no reason to create a /dev/autopilot-uinput symlink. Device symlinks make sense if they are stable and point to an unstable device name, like /dev/disk/by-label, but /dev/uinput is a fixed name which never changes. Instead, the rule should provide access to the current foreground session: KERNEL==uinput, SUBSYSTEM==misc, TAG+=uaccess and autopilot be fixed to use /dev/uinput directly. The group autopilot should not be created any more. ** Affects: autopilot (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Changed in: autopilot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to autopilot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1350263 Title: Fix handling of /dev/uinput Status in “autopilot” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The current autopilot rule does that: # Creates autopilot group specific access to /dev/uinput KERNEL==uinput, SUBSYSTEM==misc, SYMLINK=autopilot-uinput, GROUP=autopilot, MODE=0660 But on our Ubuntu Touch images, at least on mako, we have other rules which also change the permissions: rules.d/70-android.rules:ACTION==add, KERNEL==uinput, OWNER=system, GROUP=bluetooth, MODE=0660 There are multiple things which are wrong with this: * We need to stop abusing groups for device permissions. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1069507] Re: (REGRESSION) printable area is not taken into account correctly
Is this so difficult to fix (or to even decide the importance of)? It's been almost 2 years and this makes something as basic as printing a hell of the problem AND IT USED TO WORK BEFORE the regression. A little hint for the importance: * Renders essential features or functionality of the application or dependencies broken or ineffective Perhaps the impact of this issue is being underestimated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to cups in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069507 Title: (REGRESSION) printable area is not taken into account correctly Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “hplip” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: NOTE: I have no idea which package this bug is in, I chose cups only because it's the only one I know related to printing. Whenever I print anything, e.g. a pdf file from the Document viewer or a web page from Google Chrome or a document of any kind from OpenOffice (they all share the same system dialog for printing options), the top of the document is always printed outside of the printable area, and hence lost. I use a HP Deskjet 940c and this is the printer that the system is configured to use (e.g. it is listed as Deskjet 940c when I choose it for printing). Even if I choose shrink to printable area or fit to printable area, the actual printing always exceeds the top border of the printable area. So either the software doesn't take into account the printable area correctly, or the printable area information for this particular printer is wrong. This is a REGRESSION in some recent or not-so-recent upgrade, as in the past I had used this very same printer on this same system and it used to print properly. This is with image, 57. 1 - there is no visible way to distinguish the contacts app vs the contacts view in the dialer other than a subtle hint that there are more tabs in the top panel. As they have different features available this can be a bit confusing. 2 - the list is too long to search and even with the letter shortcuts can take some time, search should be restored even if with a short term fix 3 - when adding a new contact, the gray help text to fill in the fields is not at all visible, probably needs different font treatment, not matching the mockups 4 - there is no filtering support so the All Contacts phrase has no context unless its as opposed to favorites, but with no favorites seems very odd. 5 - the ability to go directly to a letter is nice, perhaps we need some indication that this option exists, although once learned its fine. Its also not accessible if you have favorites, the user needs to scroll up first. Perhaps Favorites category should also collapse and provide an entry to the quick select. Eg, family members who have different mobile numbers but live at the same residence, business contacts who have the same number but a different extension, etc. Sometimes the dialer-app will show the wrong contact is being dialed when dialing the number. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open the contacts app 2. add a contact, 'Foo' with mobile number and shared home number 3. add a contact, 'Bar' with different mobile number, but same home number as '2' 4. open 'Foo' in the contacts app, then press the phone icon next to the shared home number, and the dialer-app opens At this point, 'Foo' should be shown as being dialed, but instead, 'Bar' is shown as being dialed. I just discussed the addition of a new problem_types CrashDB option with Evan, which is a list of ProblemType values this crashdb accepts. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1347147] Re: krb5 database propagation enters infinite loop

However, I don’t understand why; the fact that r202525 was intended to fix a “missed-optimization” bug (https://gcc.gnu.org/PR58404) is a little bit terrifying. ** Also affects: gcc-4.8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: Reduced test case for GCC 4.8 bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/krb5/+bug/1347147/+attachment/4165776/+files/bug.c -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gcc-4.8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1347147 Title: krb5 database propagation enters infinite loop Status in “gcc-4.8” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “krb5” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In some conditions, propagating a kerberos database to a slave KDC server can stall. It can't be rtm14 as far as i can tell. The problem is that MH does not have a way AFAICT of letting an app express the type of audio environment it wants. So it mostly multiplexes stuff it receives. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1345505] Re: lock screen leaks keystrokes to window behind greeter
I'm affected as well, and I've been only able to reproduce with Chrome 35 or later. I tried several other applications and was not able to reproduce. Including Firefox, gnome-terminal and Chrome 34. Also, it only happens on Unity, other desktop environments are not affected. I tried 3 different versions of compiz (the latest one, the one before that and the original from trusty) and I could reproduce with all of them, although the behavior is not exactly the same. The reproduction case that I found most successful is locking the screen with Ctrl-Alt-L while having some text selected on the Chrome window, for example the location bar. So: 1) Open Chrome 35 or later (current stable is 36) 2) Ctrl-L to select the location bar 3) Ctrl-Alt-L to lock the screen After that, any characters I type while the lockscreen is dimming are sent through to Chrome. ** Summary changed: - lock screen leaks keystrokes to window behind greeter + Password typed to unlock the screen is sent to the Chrome window that was in focus -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1345505 Title: Password typed to unlock the screen is sent to the Chrome window that was in focus Status in Unity: New Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When my machine comes out of suspend, I am shown the unity lockscreen. Here are some examples: https://ci.nedprod.com/view/Boost.AFIO/job/Boost.AFIO%20Build%20POSIX_ARM_clang%203.4/9/consoleFull This log shows how clang has the wrong default target CPU, so it outputs unsupported ARM instructions (see the end after the warnings spew). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1350393] [NEW] Recent accountsservice update causes login window to hang
Public bug reported: Hi, The recent 0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1 update (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/accountsservice/+bug/1290785) seems to have removed the UID_MAX check, which could be used to hide users from the login window. In a large organization where many thousands of users are present on our systems, we relied on the UID_MAX setting in /etc/login.defs to prevent accounts-daemon from trying to frob all our accounts. accounts-daemon's performance is so poor, that not having the UID_MAX check causes lightdm to hang for 5-10mins while accounts-daemon tries to look for something in every users home folder. I've already done things like set the login window to require the user to enter their username and password rather than list all users, but the login window still hangs while accounts-daemon is doing its thing. The behavior I see, is: 1) just after boot, there's a black screen, right after the plymouth splash disappears, for 2-3 minutes before lightdm appears 2) You type a username into the username field and press 'Tab' 3) lightdm appears to hang for 5-10mins before the cursor moves to the password field. During this time, I see an accounts-daemon spawn for each user on the system, sequentially (in alphabetical order). Once the last user's accounts-daemon process finishes, the cursor moves to the password field. This not only happens on first boot, but every time a user logs out and the system returns to the login window. Any chance we can have the UID_MAX check back? Or some equivalent? This is causing a serious problem for us! Thanks! ** Affects: accountsservice (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: regression-update -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to accountsservice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1350393 Title: Recent accountsservice update causes login window to hang Status in “accountsservice” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hi, The recent 0.6.35-0ubuntu7.1 update (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/accountsservice/+bug/1290785) seems to have removed the UID_MAX check, which could be used to hide users from the login window. [Impact] When trying to deploy many servers at once (higher chances of happening) or from time-to-time, like any other intermittent race- condition.
