[Touch-packages] [Bug 1059872] Re: Error formatting disk using disk utility
Hi, I have proposed a patch which backport util-linux 2.25-8ubuntu1 from utopic to trusty: https://code.launchpad.net/~yuningdodo/ubuntu/trusty/util-linux/util- linux.backport-utopic-2.25-8ubuntu1/+merge/232848 The patch works for myself, however I am not sure if there will be any side effect since it's really a lot of changes. JFYI, to build it dh-exec 0.13 is required, you will have to download the utopic deb [1] and install it on trusty manually. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1171047] Re: update-manager times out checking for updates
Launchpad now writes out Translation-en.bz2 for PPAs and includes it in Release, preventing apt from probing. This will gradually roll out to all existing PPAs as new packages are uploaded to them. ** Changed in: launchpad Status: Fix Committed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171047 Title: update-manager times out checking for updates Status in Launchpad itself: Fix Released Status in “apt” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I've bought a number of humble bundle games that were activated through the software centre, so I have quite a lot of sources in apt. The server that they come from is so terribly slow to fetch from that it causes the update manager to time out when checking for updates. See the attached file for the timestamped output from apt-get update, and you'll see that while it's generally slow (multiple seconds between requests once the normal speed ones are dealt with) there is one that takes about 12 minutes to respond at all (13:21:48 to 13:34:12) This means that I can't update through the ubuntu update manager, nor does it tell me when updates are available. My internet is quite good, the first lot of sources complete in ~10 seconds, the problem seems to be at the private-ppa.launchpad.net server end. However, this wouldn't be such an issue if the update manager didn't time out (but really the solution is to fix the apt servers.) Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1357928] Re: [Studio1747, IDT 92HD73C1X5, playback] volume slider problem - Slide to bottom and sound stays off even when slider moved up again
For the recent kernels, try the patch below. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to alsa-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357928 Title: [Studio1747, IDT 92HD73C1X5,playback] volume slider problem - Slide to bottom and sound stays off even when slider moved up again Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The Audio Mixer panel widget slider (current version) has no mute checkbox. The 12.04 version had a mute checkbox in addition to the slider. When the slider is moved to the bottom, everything is muted: Master, Headphone, Speaker, PCM. Move the slider up and only Master is unmuted. My computer has three hardware buttons for audio. The mute/unmute mutes but never unmutes. Same issue. Known problem: http://askubuntu.com/questions/397819/ubuntu-13-10-and- xfce4-no-sound-at-all With 2012.04 I could just uncheck the mute button and things were back to normal. Now I need to open Audio Mixer and unmute everything. (It also appears I need to unmute the Headphones to hear sounds from the internal speakers.) As someone who works in an environment where I regularly need to mute this behavior is very annoying. 1) The volume sliders should never mute. 2) There should be a mute checkbox. 3) The unmute options should unmute everything which was muted. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1357928] [PATCH] ALSA: hda - Add TLV_DB_SCALE_MUTE bit for relevant controls
The DACs on Sigmatel/IDT codecs do mute at the lowest volume level, and in the earlier drivers, we passed TLV_DB_SCALE_MUTE bit for each volume control element like Speaker and Headphone as well as Master. Along with the translation to the generic parser, however, the TLV bit was lost for the slave controls (e.g. Speaker) but set only to Master. In theory this should have sufficed, but apps, particularly PA, do care the slave volume bits, so we seem to see a regression in the volume controls. This patch adds a flag to hda_gen_spec to specify the DAC mute feature, and adds the TLV bit properly for all relevant volume controls. Also, the TLV bit for vmaster is set in hda_generic.c, so that we can get rid of all tricks from the codec driver side. As the similar hack is applied to Conexant 5051 stuff, we can get rid of it as well. [Touch-packages] [Bug 974480] Re: Notification area whitelist is obsolete
mpt, that doesn't seem to me a reason why we can't have a drop down area for legacy apps. Yes their behaviour will be unpredictable for Ubuntu but it would still work for legacy apps. I run a corporate repository for 6000 users and we are having to fix each unity version so our corporate apps work, or we have to move to RedHat. The corporate owners have no interest in fixing the apps for Ubuntu, and won't give out source code, so they won't be updated unless they move to a new library which does it for them (which is equally unlikely) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974480 Title: Notification area whitelist is obsolete Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Released Status in Unity: Fix Released Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Mark has asked us to consider retiring the notification area whitelist for 12.10. With UT, my voice gets distorted to an extent that person at the other end have real difficulties to hear what I am saying, while with Android call quality is much better with no distortion. I have had a suspicion for a long time that this might be a software and not a hardware issue. After trying Android and Ubuntu on the same hardware I believe this suspicion is proved correct. Neither my blueman applet nor the built-in bluetooth manager applet can connect my external bluetooth speaker to the A2DP profile. They can connect to the bluetooth device itself just fine. Steps I'm using: * using blueman, I can connect to the external bluetooth speaker and view the device in the devices listing * I can connect the device to the Audio sink and I get a message saying it is now connected and will show in the PulseAudio mixer * After connecting the external speaker to the audio sink, I can also see the device in the Play sound through listing in the Sound system control panel, but the icon has a circle with a line through it. * but if I right-click the device and choose Audio Profile from the context menu and try to select High Fidelity Playback (A2DP) as the new profile, I get an error message stating failed to change profile to a2dp I've already added Enable=Socket in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf, without that I can't pair my headset. Now I can pair it, but I can't activate the A2DP profile. When I try to activate it, I see this message in my syslog : pulseaudio[2603]: [pulseaudio] module-bluetooth-device.c: Profile has no transport I tried the kernel 3.9.0 because of a sound problem with my soundcard, this kernel fixed my soundcard problem, but A2DP still doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bluez/+bug/1181106/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Touch-packages] [Bug 1363366] Re: DNSSEC for dnsmasq
Trusty has dnsmasq 2.68-1. Looking at the buildlog I don't see HAVE_DNSSEC being defined on the compiler command line. gcc -g -O2 -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -Wall -W -DHAVE_DBUS -DHAVE_CONNTRACK -DLOCALEDIR='/usr/share/locale' -DVERSION='2.68' -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dbus-1.0/include -c dnsmasq.c However, in the build log of dnsmasq 2.71-1, which is in Utopic, I do see HAVE_DNSSEC being defined on the compiler command line. gcc -g -O2 -fstack-protector --param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -Wformat -Werror=format-security -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -Wall -W -DNO_NETTLE_ECC -DHAVE_DBUS -DHAVE_CONNTRACK -DHAVE_DNSSEC -DLOCALEDIR='/usr/share/locale' -DVERSION='2.71' -I/usr/include/dbus-1.0 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dbus-1.0/include -c dnsmasq.c I surmise, therefore, that this wish is fulfilled in Utopic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to dnsmasq in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1363366 Title: DNSSEC for dnsmasq Status in “dnsmasq” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This is a wishlist item. As per the Debian Python Policy (I can't find a similarly thorough document for Ubuntu), The preferred specification for the Python interpreter is /usr/bin/python or /usr/bin/pythonX.Y. This ensures that a Debian installation of python is used and all dependencies on additional python modules are met. Maintainers should not override the Debian Python interpreter using /usr/bin/env python or /usr/bin/env pythonX.Y. This is not advisable as it bypasses Debian's dependency checking and makes the package vulnerable to incomplete local installations of python. I think this is reasonable, and also supported by the majority of the Python scripts in my /usr/bin directory. This also has potential security implications, i.e. someone with only user-level access could override the system Python in a user's ~/.bash_profile and install a malicious version of certain package dependencies. dwf@barricade:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 11.04 Release: 11.04 dwf@barricade:~$ grep '#!/usr/bin/env python' /usr/bin/* /usr/sbin/* |cut -d ':' -f 1|xargs dpkg -S gconf2: /usr/bin/gsettings-schema-convert mercurial-common: /usr/bin/hg-ssh hplip: /usr/bin/hp-align hplip: /usr/bin/hp-check hplip: /usr/bin/hp-clean hplip: /usr/bin/hp-colorcal hplip: /usr/bin/hp-firmware hplip: /usr/bin/hp-hpdio hplip: /usr/bin/hp-info hplip: /usr/bin/hp-levels hplip: /usr/bin/hp-makeuri hplip: /usr/bin/hp-pkservice hplip: /usr/bin/hp-plugin hplip: /usr/bin/hp-probe hplip: /usr/bin/hp-query hplip: /usr/bin/hp-scan hplip: /usr/bin/hp-setup hplip: /usr/bin/hp-testpage hplip: /usr/bin/hp-timedate hplip: /usr/bin/hp-unload gnome-applets: /usr/bin/invest-chart pitivi: /usr/bin/pitivi libpurple-bin: /usr/bin/purple-remote libpurple-bin: /usr/bin/purple-url-handler hplip: /usr/sbin/hpssd dwf@barricade:~$ grep '#!/usr/bin/env python' /usr/bin/* /usr/sbin/* |cut -d ':' -f 1 |xargs dpkg -S |cut -d':' -f 1|xargs apt-cache policy gconf2: Installed: 2.32.2-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.32.2-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.32.2-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status hplip: Installed: 3.11.1-2ubuntu2 Candidate: 3.11.1-2ubuntu2 Version table: *** 3.11.1-2ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status gnome-applets: Installed: 2.32.1.1-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 2.32.1.1-0ubuntu5 Version table: *** 2.32.1.1-0ubuntu5 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status libpurple-bin: Installed: 1:2.7.11-1ubuntu2.1 Candidate: 1:2.7.11-1ubuntu2.1 Version table: *** 1:2.7.11-1ubuntu2.1 0 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty-security/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:2.7.11-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages pitivi: Installed: 0.13.5-1ubuntu4 Candidate: 0.13.5-1ubuntu4 Version table: *** 0.13.5-1ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status mercurial-common: Installed: 1.7.5-1ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.7.5-1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.7.5-1ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ natty/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/912625/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I don't know if this will keep into the next version of the ubuntu SDK but I have a possible core app issue with the current version * Files manager : At this moment, the word View is traducted by Vue in french, but it might be changed by its usual word (nautilus, nemo, explorer.exe, firefox, most app...) have the word Affichage. There are plenty of language, Might be already like that with one of them. -Selection/copy/paste (as seen on the messaging app with the keyboard): * when you write a message (sms) to someone, if you make a long tap you have a popup that come up (select all/paste, not the copy/cut/paste. For me neither, today the problem is back again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1307877 Title: Laptop Monitor Brightness reduced to minimum and disabled after disconnection from external monitor. Status in The Linux Kernel: New Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, I have the following problem under Ubuntu 14.04. As soon as I disconnect my external monitor from my Laptop (Lenovo X1 Carbon), the brigthness is reduced to minimum (backlight switches off) and I can not increase it again. When I use the brightness control keys the brightness bar shows that it is set to maximum even though it clearly is not. Using the control keys still changes the brightness bar but does nothing to the brightness itself. Upon a restart of the laptop the brightness returns to its maximum and is controllable again. I encountered this problem under the Unity version shipped with Ubuntu 14.04, but it might happen with other desktop managers as well. Don't fret if you have One Last Feature to get uploaded, and don't panic and upload it untested today just to try to beat the clock. We would rather see a feature freeze exception bug and a well-tested upload than something rushed to beat a deadline. That said, the vast majority of people should be winding down new feature development now and focusing on bug fixes and polish to make 14.10 yet another great release come October. I do hope that Libav11 is still on the table. As suggested, I've filed https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libav/+bug/1360026 for tracking that transition. I've just uploaded libav11 to unstable, starting the transition there. I don't expect too many problems. Is now a good time to start the transition? As promised to Colin in the other thread, I am going to keep a much closer eye on this transition compared to libav10 this time. Is this the version you expect Jessie to release with? Yes, that's the plan. I would very much appreciate if Ubuntu would not ship libav10, because that would make maintenance easier for me. That makes sense. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1292425] Re: apport does not specify what personal data it collects and reports
More on Apport bug. Just reporting another bug now, Apport gave me the option of including logs. It said if you include logs they might contain personal data such as username and something-or-other. This is brilliant. A most welcome and reassuring sign of progress. The procedure could be improved by automatically stripping out personal data and replacing it with standard names. E.g. username = user_x system = system_x all user-created directories given a unique name = e.g. dira, dir z1, dir az1, and so on. Maybe there are other personal data that could be stripped out automatically too? Perhaps enough that it might be possible for Apport to reassure the user that all personal data has been stripped out? I guess the same would have to be done with: filenames, user strings, device names... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apport in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1292425 Title: apport does not specify what personal data it collects and reports Status in “apport” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: apport does not specify what personal data it collects and reports. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1249162] Re: Devices lose adb connection after phablet-flash loop
** Changed in: android-tools (Ubuntu) Assignee: Sergio Schvezov (sergiusens) = (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to android-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249162 Title: Devices lose adb connection after phablet-flash loop Status in Phablet Tools: Invalid Status in “android-tools” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Devices will eventually lose their adb connection to the host computer after running them through a phablet-flash loop. This has been seen in our jenkins upstream merger infrastructure for a while and I've been able to isolate it and reproduce it on my own device (a maguro) using the attached reflash-loop.sh script. This is seen at a much higher rate on our maguros and not as much on our makos. We have swapped hosts and swapped hubs, neither change helped with the failure rate. On the maguros, it's usually seen within 10 runs. It my test at home, I was able to reproduce multiple times after 4, 6, and 4 iterations. adb kill-server/start-server on the host have no effect. The device itself completes flash and is sitting at the Intro screen (waiting for me to try the right edge). The device appears to be fully functional. With the terminal app, I was able to determine that adbd was running on the device (via ps -ef | grep adbd). The MTP connection is working, I'm able to browse files on the device. The device adb connection can be restored by pulling the battery.
