It actually seems like --keep-baud is doing exactly what it's supposed to: -s, --keep-baud Try to keep the existing baud rate. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571522] Re: Detect captive WiFi hotspots
There can be many ways captive portals work and it is tricky being able to support the different ways of detecting this. I've seen some offer redirects, but others offer different status codes to indicate the captive portal, and not all captive portals act properly once things get returned. I would think this comes from network-manager level and not indicator level. ** Also affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to indicator-network in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1571522 Title: Detect captive WiFi hotspots Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in indicator-network package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Right now it is very annoying that when you connect to a captive wifi portal, the device does not detect that. All other devices open the log in page automatically, except ubuntu devices. One needs to manually open the browser, type a url and get redirected before being able to log in and start e.g. telegram messaging over the wifi connection. My proposed solution to solve this: When a WiFi connection is established, indicator-network should do a http GET call to ubuntu.com. If the reply turns out to be a redirect, it should open the browser with the redirect url. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1563287] Re: [regression] [OTA-10] [Mali GPU] Spread animation stutters badly with only a few apps opened
Regarding fixing bug 1517205, it appears the new EGL synchronization was only ever required to resolve problems with software clients. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1492252] Re: Allow direct linking to a Preview via uri
Just a suggestion, but what if you had an optional feature where (if enabled) the preview would fetch the single result and display it? So for example, linking directly to an app in the click store scope would first launch an api call then show the preview using the results of the call. That way each scope can implement it (or not implement it) in a way that makes the most sense to them. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571500] Re: console port speed impossible to set on ttyUSB0
damn it ! I found a way. Well, I spend quite some time toying with the options but I had yet to do that... sudo /sbin/agetty --keep-baud 57600 ttyUSB0 vt220 gives no luck, the line always goes back to 9600bps, but using the following sudo /sbin/agetty 57600 ttyUSB0 vt220 gives the expected result of a 57600bps line console. So now what can we conclude ? I also have a Soekris machine with a real RS232 serial port, no USB adapter, it works out of the box. But when having a USB-to-serial adapter the problem described in this bug report triggers. I've not yet investigated what's unusual about this window. Some other dialogs (e.g. "About") work fine. Also relevent to focus handling, despite being able to set focus to the main window it doesn't respond to input - with the "About" option above, closing that window enables it. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571903] [NEW] PAM gets stuck waiting for audit_log_acct_message()
Public bug reported: During PAM processing of any request (auth, acct, or session), the function audit_log_acct_message () (from /lib/i386-linux- gnu/libaudit.so.1 ) is called to audit the event. One of the variables that can be used during audit logging is the hostname of the requester (PAM_RHOST). The audit_log_acct_message () function try to resolve this hostname if the address is still not known, but when the DNS server is not reachable or the query return is SERVFAIL, system tries a couple of times before aborting the process of name resolution, which leads to time wasted by PAM waiting for the return of audit_log_acct_message (). In some cases, this time wasting causes the requester application to timeout, for example a VPN user. This issue happened to me while testing a vpn solution using pppd, and at the same time dns server was down. The vpn client was timing out during user/pass verification phase, and by looking at pppd debug logs it was because of a very slow PAM processing. At same time, I could see server was sending strange dns queries about "ppp0". (pppd includes the dynamic interface name as the PAM_RHOST when calling PAM). Summary of events: 1-pppd passes user/pass to PAM for auth 2-PAM pocess auth 3-PAM audit the event <- time wasted waiting for dns (>5 seconds) (...)->the process is repeated for PAM acct and session checks. By the way if DNS server responds with NXDOMAIN, the resolver aborts immediately and the stuck issue is not seen. This I think is what happens on most cases. I wonder if PAM can be improved by making a non-blocking call to audit_log_acct_message (). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571686] Re: "Ask me each time" for SMS does not work
Hi Pat, thanks for fast respond. I must admit I would like to have that settings working - as I communicate via SMS over both SIM cards. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1563867] Re: Successfull creation of UbuntuOne account is not recognized
I do not see this behavior on the latest rc-proposed image. This happens because when the account creation fails, we leave the user on the providers page (in order to possibly try again). Besides this minor UI glitch, the bug has another effect, potentially more serious: after online-accounts-ui detects that the account creation has been successfully completed (which it doesn't, due to this bug), it adds the client application to the ACL for the newly created account. Now, the fact that this does not currently happen is not a real problem, since all services using the UbuntuOne account are unconfined processes; but if there was a third party click application which requested the creation of an UbuntuOne account, this application would not be enabled to use it after the creation. Android community had received these complains for years, finally they got them fixed on lollipop. Fedora also set it as default chinese font start from F21. and of course, i still hope that ubuntu could drop those 69-language-selector fontconfig files, just like what F13 did. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571761] Re: zfs-import-cache.service slows boot by 60 seconds
So: a.) zfs-import-cache.service is 'After systemd-udev-settle.service' b.) cloud-init installs /lib/udev/rules.d/79-cloud-init-net-wait.rules which uses IMPORT of /lib/udev/cloud-init-wait to block network device add events until cloud-init-local has written networking configuration I'm pretty sure, then what is happening is: 1.) network device gets added and cloud-init-wait starts its 60 second wait for cloud-init-local to finish. 2.) systemd-udev-settle runs, which waits until queued all events are processed 3.) deadlock until timeout from 1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1571761 Title: zfs-import-cache.service slows boot by 60 seconds Status in cloud-init package in Ubuntu: New Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: New Status in zfs-linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Fresh uvt-kvm guest, then $ sudo apt-get install zfsutils-linux $ sudo reboot The reboot will show on console waiting for tasks, then after ~ 60 seconds it continues boot. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1485522] Re: Volume obtained is 100% in multimedia sink for sounds from app
It seems both the duplicate bug #1478506 (volume control increasing from 0) and this (volume always at 100) go away with the bug fix. There is a remaining perceived bug of any sound playing app's volume being controlled only if the app is playing something at the time of volume control. If that's not the case, ringtone volume is controlled instead. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1485522 Title: Volume obtained is 100% in multimedia sink for sounds from app Status in Canonical System Image: In Progress Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in qtmultimedia-opensource-src package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in qtubuntu-media package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in qtmultimedia-opensource-src package in Ubuntu RTM: New Bug description: I'm not sure 100% this is a bug but it is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1478506 When the "Marron in trouble" games launches a sound the multimedia sink it's updated and when reading the volume it's always 100%. I'ts not 100% for other applications using the multimedia role, like the music app or other games/apps. The volume in that case is in sync with the volume that was previously set for it. This is the code from the indicator-sound where we get the 100% volume. var props_variant = yield _pconn.call ("org.PulseAudio.Ext.StreamRestore1.RestoreEntry", sink_input_objp, "org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties", "Get", new Variant ("(ss)", "org.PulseAudio.Ext.StreamRestore1.RestoreEntry", "Volume"), null, DBusCallFlags.NONE, -1); Variant tmp; props_variant.get ("(v)", out tmp); uint32 type = 0, volume = 0; VariantIter iter = tmp.iterator (); iter.next ("(uu)", &type, &volume); I did a workaround branch in the indicator-sound that reads the volume at initilaization for every role and stores any change When the sink is updated I read the volume in it that is already stored instead of reading the volume from pulse. I'm not convinced of that, and would like to know why I get 100% volume only for this particular game. In the artists view, tap on one of the albums. At that point, the thumbnailer gets the following request: thumbnailer-service: [02:59:04.731] "album: Pink Floyd/The Dark Side Of The Moon [2011 - Remaster] (2304,0): 0.129131 sec (FULL-SIZE HIT)" 2304 is bigger than the entire screen, and the thumbnailer will delivers the largest size it can (limited to 1920). But the actual thumbnail that's displayed looks like it's about 250-300 pixels wide. It would be easier on the battery and on cache storage if the request would be issued at the correct size. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1378186] Re: When the only app of a selected department is uninstalled, the empty department remains selected
It's still the case. I don't think the shell should implement any logic for such cases. Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1571511] Re: hplip not compatible with cups, dbus in xenial
For the record, the hp-doctor output *may* be a red herring. It turns out there was a typo in a directive in my cupsd.conf (from a bad edit). It is possible (although not certain) that the hp-doctor/hp-check reports of incompatible/missing version is not showing the root cause, but is an issue with hp-doctor/hp-check that needs to be addressed to avoid user confusion. However, it may actually be a version problem as I discovered the typo after reinstalling with 14.04.4 and getting a different error from hp-setup and seeing the directive error in /var/log/cups/error_log (which was probably also in the xenial logs, but masked by the fact that hp-setup appeared to work and that other errors appeared later (closer to the faulty result). On Trusty cups refused to even start, leading to finding the issue, on Xenial things appeared to succeed until actual printing failed. The initial symptoms were that after running hp-setup -i (text mode only box), and attempting to print a test page from hplip, there was no output. After cancelling that job from http://:631/... and attempting to print another test page from the CUPS interface, CUPS reporter 'filter failed'. Reviewing error_log revealed the message 'unable to open inital device. quitting'. While this *sounds* like a device error, hp-levels and hp-clean both work, so clearly the issue is not with access to the usb device (and the appropriate /dev/bus/usb/*/* device has group lp and group rw permissions). Also some web searching reveals that this can be caused by e.g. ghostscript errors and is not necessarily indicative of an hardware device access issue. Running hp-doctor gives the attached result hplip version 3.16.3+repack0-1 cups 2.1.3-4 dbus 1.10.6-1ubuntu3 On an up-to-date as of 2016-04-18 01:00:00 -0400 Xenial system installed from final beta alternate CD.
