[Touch-packages] [Bug 1445755] Re: Provide a way to hide images from a particular location
Doing a grep over the gallery-app source code, it doesn't look like it is using mediascanner. Note that if you stick .nomedia files in the music folder, mediascanner will respect those and make that music disappear from the music scope and app though. Mediascanner is driving the local photos scope though, and these pieces of folder cover art will likely show up there. For internal storage, we could filter out photos in the Music folder (should we also filter out videos? What if an album shipped with some music and some videos and the user stuck the whole lot in the music folder?). For removable media we don't scan media type specific folders, but instead scan the entire volume. So we don't have an obvious way to suppress folder cover art, other than ignoring file names that might be folder art entirely. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mediascanner2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445755 Title: Provide a way to hide images from a particular location Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in gallery-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in mediascanner2 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I've put about 30GB of music in my SD card. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1579135] Re: AppArmor profile reloading causes an intermittent kernel BUG
I believe I have finally tracked this one down. It only occurs when an fd is shared between 9 or more separate profile domains and one of those profiles is removed. The removal part can happen during the apparmor reload phase, if a profile was renamed which is more likely on touch and snappy. Note: there is a new test kernel using +jj61 at http://people.canonical.com/~jj/linux+jj/ This should be the final fix for this issue -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apparmor in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579135 Title: AppArmor profile reloading causes an intermittent kernel BUG Status in apparmor package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: First, a bit of background: I've built a go binary of the upstream snappy integration tests, and built them into a snap so that we can easily keep them up to date, and call them from other test suites. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1615864] [NEW] Screen resolution not saved after reboot or logout and back in
Public bug reported: Hello, I am having an issue with my screen resolution of 1920x1080. I am using a Vizio 42 inch TV which worked fine with the HDMI connection from the computer to the TV. Every time I boot the computer up I have to go into terminal and type " xrandr -s 1920x1080 " One of the first things I did was go to the System Settings > Software & Updates > Additional Drivers and then select Nividia 304.131 (proprietary, tested). I do this since when Nouveau was first introduced, it never worked with my graphics chipset which is a Nividia 7050. Yes, the chipset is old but worked fine until 16.04. I spent the weekend trying all suggestions that I could find via the search engines along with the help of a few folks on the #ubuntu IRC. Three days later, still no luck and still having to type the xrandr line in the terminal. I even tried adding the xrandr line in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf, That was a disaster at bootup. luckily I was able to get to the terminal and Nano edit the file and reboot. In addition, probably unrelated to this issue, I have also noticed when running any streaming video, now it is almost like watching a slide show. Nothing has changed Internet connection or hardware since the install of 16.04. Even typing this is lagged by 1 to 3 seconds per character typed. Same issue in Firefox or Chrome. But sorry, I digress. This can be looked at in another post, forum or possible bug. The main issue is that Ubuntu 16.04 does not save and or reads the saved settings of 1920x1080 with out the later use via the terminal using xrandr. I did take notice that when booting into the main desktop the mouse pointer is small as if in 1920x1080 but then changes to a larger pointer then the resolution is then 1280x720 which seems to what 16.04 falls back to. The TV reports the proper information under xrandr. gee@HTPC:~$ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 4096 x 4096 VGA-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) TV-0 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 980mm x 580mm 1280x720 60.00 + 59.94 1920x1080 59.9459.94* 60.0560.0050.04 720x576 50.0050.08 720x480 59.94 640x480 59.93 gee@HTPC:~$ uname-a Linux HTPC 4.4.0-34-generic #53-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 27 16:06:39 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux This will be the only information I will post this way since it was quite short. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1591797] Re: Only run FIPS self tests when FIPS is enabled
Marc Deslauriers, Will this change to remove the FIPS patches be backported and released in Xenial? -- Ken -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to openssl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591797 Title: Only run FIPS self tests when FIPS is enabled Status in openssl package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: The FIPS changes added in 1.0.2g-1ubuntu3/1.0.2g-1ubuntu4 as discussed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+bug/1553309 always run the FIPS self tests independent of FIPS being enabled (via /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled). The performance impact of running these FIPS tests on armhf (beaglebone and raspberry pi 2&3) is significant (~ 700ms). On amd64 it is measurable but far less significant (~ 10ms). On a long running process this may be insignificant, but for command line tools this is problematic. I've seen performance differences with wget, dig, nslookup, and host. I am sure there are others. The specific numbers above are from the sample code below. The relevant initialization can be found in crypto/o_init.c: static void init_fips_mode(void) { char buf[2] = "0"; int fd; /* Ensure the selftests always run */ FIPS_mode_set(1); /* For now, do not enforce fips mode via env var if (getenv("OPENSSL_FORCE_FIPS_MODE") != NULL) { buf[0] = '1'; } else if ((fd = open(FIPS_MODE_SWITCH_FILE, O_RDONLY)) >= 0) { */ if ((fd = open(FIPS_MODE_SWITCH_FILE, O_RDONLY)) >= 0) { while (read(fd, buf, sizeof(buf)) < 0 && errno == EINTR) ; close(fd); } /* Failure reading the fips mode switch file means just not * switching into FIPS mode. We would break too many things * otherwise.. */ if (buf[0] != '1') { /* drop down to non-FIPS mode if it is not requested */ FIPS_mode_set(0); } else { /* abort if selftest failed */ FIPS_selftest_check(); } } I would like to see these tests only run if /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled exists, and is 1. This still meets the original proposal as written in the 1553309 thread: 1. openssl must read a 1 from /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled. 2. The selftests must pass 3. The integrity check must pass To see the performance differences you can build and time the following program: #include #include int main() { OpenSSL_add_ssl_algorithms(); } To measure the system performance without FIPS I installed 1.0.2g- 1ubuntu2 from: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/1.0.2g- 1ubuntu2 on both armhf and amd64. I have also recompiled 1.0.2g- 1ubuntu4.1 with the call to FIPS_mode_set(1) commented out. When I run the original 1.0.2g-1ubuntu4.1 on my Raspberry Pi I see the following times: real0m0.690s real0m0.683s real0m0.705s real0m0.690s The same system with 1.0.2g-1ubuntu4.1 modified and the call to FIPS_mode_set(1) commented out: real0m0.010s real0m0.010s real0m0.009s real0m0.012s real0m0.010s The same system with 1.0.2g-1ubuntu2: real0m0.010s real0m0.009s real0m0.009s real0m0.011s real0m0.012s Here is some information about my system: $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Release:16.04 $ apt-cache policy libssl1.0.0 libssl1.0.0: Installed: 1.0.2g-1ubuntu4.1 Candidate: 1.0.2g-1ubuntu4.1 Version table: *** 1.0.2g-1ubuntu4.1 500 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial-security/main armhf Packages 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial-updates/main armhf Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.0.2g-1ubuntu4 500 500 http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports xenial/main armhf Packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+bug/1591797/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1447715] Re: dhclient -6: Can't bind to dhcp address: Cannot assign requested address
** Changed in: dhcp Status: Unknown => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to isc-dhcp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447715 Title: dhclient -6: Can't bind to dhcp address: Cannot assign requested address Status in DHCP: New Status in isc-dhcp package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04 my computer is unable to obtain an IPv6 address via DHCPv6. The root cause is that dhclient is exiting with the following message: - Can't bind to dhcp address: Cannot assign requested address Please make sure there is no other dhcp server running and that there's no entry for dhcp or bootp in /etc/inetd.conf. Also make sure you are not running HP JetAdmin software, which includes a bootp server. If you think you have received this message due to a bug rather than a configuration issue please read the section on submitting bugs on either our web page at www.isc.org or in the README file before submitting a bug. These pages explain the proper process and the information we find helpful for debugging.. exiting. - The problem seems to exist in isc-dhcp-client 4.3.1-5ubuntu2 (15.04 version) because downgrading to isc-dhcp-client 4.2.4-7ubuntu14 (14.10 version) allows me to obtain an address. NetworkManager is the one launching dhclient. The two invocations (one for IPv4 and one for IPv6) are: dhclient_start(): running: /sbin/dhclient -d -q -sf /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-helper -pf /run/sendsigs.omit.d /network-manager.dhclient-eth0.pid -lf /var/lib/NetworkManager /dhclient-c0a3dfde-5c0b-4cef-9c3b-563cfb1fb9d2-eth0.lease -cf /var/lib/NetworkManager/dhclient-eth0.conf eth0 dhclient_start(): running: /sbin/dhclient -d -q -6 -N -sf /usr/lib/NetworkManager/nm-dhcp-helper -pf /run/sendsigs.omit.d /network-manager.dhclient6-eth0.pid -lf /var/lib/NetworkManager/dhclient6-c0a3dfde-5c0b-4cef-9c3b- 563cfb1fb9d2-eth0.lease -cf /var/lib/NetworkManager/dhclient6-eth0.conf eth0 I do not see anything suspicious with the way both dhclients are invoked. Given that a downgrade allows me to obtain an IPv6 address I think this might be a bug in the ISC DHCP client rather than in NetworkManager. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1609367] Re: ifupdown does not set ipv6-only large mtu
> if we have a higher mtu onthe ipv6 link, like 4800, then the inet section > mtu setting clobbers it and they both end up at 1500. > > Now, that case I still believe is *invalid* configuration; I agree - if the ifupdown config has the inet mtu set lower than the inet6 mtu, that's a misconfiguration, since it's not possible for the device mtu to be lower than the ipv6 mtu. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ifupdown in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609367 Title: ifupdown does not set ipv6-only large mtu Status in ifupdown package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: ifupdown changes a device's mtu differently, between "inet" section mtu and "inet6" section mtu. For "inet", ifupdown changes the device's mtu, using 'ip link set DEV mtu NNN'. However for "inet6", ifupdown changes the interface's IPv6 mtu, using 'sysctl -q -e -w net.ipv6.conf.DEV.mtu=NNN'. The problem is that a device's ipv6 mtu cannot be larger than the device mtu. Normally this is not a problem; the main reason a device needs a separate ipv6 mtu is to support ipv6 tunneling inside ipv4 (e.g. 6in4 or 6rd), so ifupdown would also have a ipv4 "inet" section that contained a larger mtu (or, the ipv6 section would have a lower- than-default mtu). But, in the case of an interface that is configured only for ipv6 *and* large frames (e.g. 9000 mtu), there is only an "inet6" section in the ifupdown config, and so ifupdown fails to set the device's mtu, which causes its attempt to set the ipv6 mtu to fail. I believe the correct behavior is for ifupdown to check if there is any "inet" config section for the same device as the "inet6" section, and if there is not then it should change the device mtu as well as the ipv6 mtu. Additionally, the "inet6" configuration must be done after the "inet" configuration for the same device, since the ipv6 mtu can't be higher than the device mtu. I don't see any easy way to add that logic to inet6.defn, however... [Touch-packages] [Bug 1611010] Re: yakkety desktop - non-english installation crashes with /plugininstall.py: ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''
Things aren't simple for this issue. Looks like when apt prints out its StatusFd messages; it does so (quite rightly) following LC_NUMERIC when doing a straight sprintf(..., "...%.4f...", ...). Many other calls are wrapping decimal values in a call to to_string() to get around this. The problem with this is that some other tools (debconf's debconf-apt- progress, python-apt) rely on the output being in C.UTF-8 (or some other similar format) to parse the output, and won't be able to parse output where the decimal separator is anything other than '.'. This happens in fr_FR.UTF-8 and es_ES.UTF-8 at least. I can work around this in ubiquity by setting LC_NUMERIC; but it won't fix the underlying cause being that apt prints out the values that may or may not be parseable by other tools. Apt should be fixed (this appears to be a regression from xenial) or we'll need to modify debconf- apt-progress and python-apt to account for the changes. ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => In Progress ** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Assignee: Ubuntu Installer Team (ubuntu-installer) => Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (cyphermox) ** Also affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Critical -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611010 Title: yakkety desktop - non-english installation crashes with /plugininstall.py: ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: '' Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in ubiquity package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: Enviroment: Ubuntu 16.10.5 Yakkety Yak http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ HW: Toshiba portege Z30-A12T | Intel i5+intel graphics | SSD hd Preconditions: W10+Xenial xerus installed, internet connection, 3rd party sw and updates selected Steps to reproduce: 1º Click something else on Installation type screen>select /dev/sdaX where Xenial is installed, use it to mount / and leave some space to create the /home partition(ext4) 2º Then click back and select erase ubuntu 16.04.1 and install Yakkety 3º Installation starts Current result: After a little time installing it crashes and a window shows up to let the user know that some info is being gathered to send it to developers, and finally firefox opens on the bug report web on ubiquity package Expected result: No crashes during installation ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: ubiquity 16.10.5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-33.52-generic 4.4.15 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-33-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 CasperVersion: 1.376 Date: Mon Aug 8 15:50:56 2016 InstallCmdLine: file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash --- maybe-ubiquity LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Alpha amd64 (20160808) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=es_ES.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1611010/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Impact] Avahi sets the rlimit_nproc to 3, causing avahi to fail running in containers. This This option should not be set in containers at all. This causes avahi-daemon to fail, hence all the applications that use avahi will also fail. In this particular case, MAAS fails because of this. [Test Case] 1. Install a container. 2. Install MAAS 3. Check apache2 log for errors, such as those in [1]. [Regression Potential] Minimal. This has been tested and works as expected. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1615751] Re: kernel boot (not userspace) on azure takes > 5 minutes
I just launched 1 instance of xenial and of trusty with the same user- data, both of these were 'Standard_D1_v2' type. They do not seem to have such bad performance. trusty does not have systemd-analyze, but i've included 'dmesg | grep sda1.*mounted' for each, which shows quite a difference to the point where sda1 is mounted (and then re-mounted rw). I've also included the initramfs-tools version as xenial and yakkety are actually running the same kernel version. So something else is at play here. # Trusty uptime: 49.59 seconds you launched me at: Mon, 22 Aug 2016 18:24:45 + it is now : Mon, 22 Aug 2016 18:27:08 + kernel booted : Mon, 22 Aug 2016 18:26:19 + launch to kernel boot: 94 seconds launch to user-data : 143 seconds $ dmesg | grep sda1.*mounted [3.860600] EXT4-fs (sda1): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. It would be nice if it did, as we start having pieces of Touch come over to the desktop, convergence style. For example, unity8-greeter has support for opening apps inside the session (via launcher or indicators). It uses a combination of a system daemon and url-dispatcher (inside the session) to do this. But this doesn't work on unity7. In this case, I could patch unity8-greeter to do something different for unity7, but it seems like it would be nicer to make url-dispatcher a little more general. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1611680] Re: Scrolling on www.ceskenoviny.cz is very slow
I’ve done some profiling on my arale and I’ve found out a few interesting things: - there’s an urlChanged handler in NavigationBar.qml¹ that’s triggered with every load event, and it’s costly - the loadEvent and titleChanged handlers in Browser.qml² are expensive too, because they cause updates to the HistoryModel that block the UI thread - the layout of the chrome/address bar depends too much on the 'loading'³ and 'loadProgress' properties of the webview, causing countless binding evaluations and re-layouts for each load event All those observations cause a tremendous slowdown on that specific page because scrolling triggers LoadCommitted events. I’m not sure why those events are triggered at all, but I’m sure the browser can be improved to not grind to a halt when that happens. ¹ https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/webbrowser-app/trunk/view/head:/src/app/webbrowser/NavigationBar.qml#L142 ² https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/webbrowser-app/trunk/view/head:/src/app/webbrowser/Browser.qml#L1276 ³ https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~phablet-team/webbrowser-app/trunk/view/head:/src/app/webbrowser/NavigationBar.qml#L125 ** Changed in: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Olivier Tilloy (osomon) ** Changed in: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611680 Title: Scrolling on www.ceskenoviny.cz is very slow Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hello, the Czech news site I am reading quite often was recently updated to a new design and as of this update scrolling on the site gets quite tricky. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1612767] Re: Drop appmenu-qt5 from default installations
Thanks Timo! I committed the changes last week. Unfortunately I get tests failures when trying to build qtbase, but they seem unrelated to my changes (https://launchpad.net/~mitya57/+archive/ubuntu/test2/+build/10643352, I get the same locally). Do you know anything about this? ** Description changed: Currently we are using appmenu-qt5 as our platform theme on desktop, however it has many disadvantages, which make me want to get rid of it: 1) Its design is a hack: instead of the using normal QPA API for getting the menu, it retrieves the menu bar using QWidget::findChild, and then casts the pointer to QMenu*. The normal methods (which are getting called by Qt) remain empty stubs. 2) It is preventing applications from using GTK+ theme integration, such as dialogs (I reported this as bug 1378935, but there is no easy way to fix that). 3) It is not working with Qt Quick applications (because it expects a QtWidgets window; see also bug 1323853). As of 16.04, because the LSB specifies ABIs for various libraries that are no longer supported in Ubuntu as obsolete, the packages for the lsb modules have been dropped in both Debian and Ubuntu. This includes dropping of lsb-core, which is the component which provides the LSB-mandated ELF loader path - without which no lsb executable will work. This SRU will restore the bare minimum of LSB compatibility necessary to support known third-party LSB printer driver packages on Ubuntu 16.04. [Regression potential] The reintroduced 'lsb' binary package is known to not fully satisfy the requirements for a complete LSB-compliant system. This is a regression vs. Ubuntu 14.04; so anyone using LSB packages on Ubuntu 14.04 who upgrades to Ubuntu 16.04 may have the upgrade succeed without any warning from the package manager. As there are very few lsb packages in use in the wild, this is considered an acceptable regression, especially as this will land before the first 16.04 point release. [Test case] 1. Download the epsion 201106w printer driver package from http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/op/stable/debian/dists/lsb3.2/main/binary-amd64/epson-inkjet-printer-201106w_1.0.1-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb 2. Install the package and confirm that its dependencies are not satisfiable. 3. Enable xenial-proposed. 4. Install the package again and confirm that the dependencies are satisfied. 5. Verify that /opt/epson-inkjet-printer-201106w/cups/lib/filter/epson_inkjet_printer_filter can be run without errors about missing lsb ld.so or missing libraries. Starting with Xenial, lsb compatibility packages were dropped (besides lsb-release and lsb-base): lsb (9.20150826) unstable; urgency=low * Drop all the LSB compatibility packages besides lsb-release and lsb-base - Drop packages-availability checking in lsb-release - Truncate README.Debian to a minimum - Document this in lsb-base.NEWS.Debian * Change the versioning number to avoid any ambiguity; use joeyh's version.date, with version being Debian next stable's -- Didier Raboud Wed, 26 Aug 2015 12:00:00 +0200 The problem is that downloadable printer drivers (like the ones from Openprinting, but also from other available providers) that are suggested when installing a printer on Ubuntu depends on lsb, which is not available anymore: epson-inkjet-printer-201106w: Dépend: lsb (>=3.2) but it is not installable This triggers a regression where it is not possible to setup a printer this way (downloading a driver where no local driver is available) anymore. I see two possible solutions: - Add a proper replaces field to one of the remaining lsb-* packages, to hopefully fix missing lsb package (maybe it would be useful to also replace other compability packages that are not built anymore). - Re-introduce LSB compatibility packages, but that might be an overkill. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1615677] [NEW] editingCapabilities value doesn’t change when long pressing a word in an unfocused text field
Public bug reported: The following example illustrates the problem: import QtQuick 2.4 import com.canonical.Oxide 1.15 WebView { url: "http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_textarea"; Component.onCompleted: console.log("initial editing caps:", editingCapabilities) onEditingCapabilitiesChanged: console.log("editing caps changed:", editingCapabilities) } When run in qmlscene on a touch device, we can see that the initial value for editingCapabilities is 64 (selectAll). Long pressing on any word in one of the text areas (that are initially not focused) should trigger an update of the value (adding cut and copy caps), but it doesn’t. Tapping anywhere inside the same text area, then long pressing on the word again will correctly update the value of the property, so it’s only the first time after focusing the text field that this fails. FindUserById could be used by a malicious app to enumerate usernames on multiuser systems and because we can't mediate method data with apparmor, the Get() method can be used to obtain any information provided by this interface. The following can be used to see what can be leaked to a malicious app: gdbus introspect --system -d org.freedesktop.Accounts -o /org/freedesktop/Accounts/User`id -u phablet` This can be solved in a couple of ways: 1. add whatever information the app is trying to access to a new helper service that only exposes things that the app needs. This could be a single standalone service, perhaps something from ubuntu-system-settings, that could expose any number of things-- the current locale, if the locale changed, if the grid units changed, the vibration settings, etc. Since this service wouldn't have any sensitive information, you could use standard dbus properties/Get()/etc 2. add a new dbus API to an existing service such that apparmor rules can then be used to allow by method (eg, GetVibration() or something) I won't dictate the implementation except to mention that '1' seems like something generally useful and I believe that it was something the ubuntu-system-settings devs were already looking at for detecting locale changes without rebooting. Original description starting an app in vivid (image 135 on arale currently) produces a bunch of dbus denials in syslog ... In my case it seemed to be a faulty heat dissipation, it's just in only happened under Linux because in GNOME based desktop environments the power mode stays at a higher level more frequently than in other operating systems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881526 Title: AMD graphics hardware hangs with an homogeneous coloured screen or blank screen, and with chirp coming from the graphics card Status in Mesa: Confirmed Status in mesa package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Happens at random, but more frequently running videos on YouTube with the HTML5 player (https://www.youtube.com/html5) or with the XBMC home theatre software. /var/log/kern.log: Oct 25 14:53:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 737.900416] INFO: rcu_sched_state detected stall on CPU 2 (t=15000 jiffies) Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.813946] [fglrx] ASIC hang happened Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.813950] Pid: 1149, comm: Xorg Tainted: P C 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.813951] Call Trace: Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.813985] [] KCL_DEBUG_OsDump+0xe/0x10 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814003] [] firegl_hardwareHangRecovery+0x1c/0x50 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814036] [] ? _ZN4Asic9WaitUntil15ResetASICIfHungEv+0x9/0x10 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814068] [] ? _ZN4Asic9WaitUntil15WaitForCompleteEv+0x6c/0xb0 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814099] [] ? _ZN15ExecutableUnits10CPRingIdleE15idle_WaitMethod12_QS_CP_RING_+0xe4$ Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814127] [] ? _ZN10CMMSurfaceD1Ev+0xcb/0xe0 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814158] [] ? _ZN15ExecutableUnits7PM4idleE15idle_WaitMethod+0x4b/0x90 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814187] [] ? _ZN15QS_PRIVATE_CORE9QsPM4idleE15idle_WaitMethod+0x31/0x60 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814215] [] ? _ZN10QS_PRIVATE11synchronizeEv+0x2a/0x30 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814243] [] ? _Z8uCWDDEQCmjjPvjS_+0x3b5/0x10c0 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814246] [] ? down+0x2e/0x50 Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814266] [] ? firegl_cmmqs_CWDDE_32+0x332/0x440 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814285] [] ? firegl_cmmqs_CWDDE32+0x70/0x100 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814288] [] ? security_capable+0x2a/0x30 Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814306] [] ? firegl_cmmqs_createdriver+0x170/0x170 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814322] [] ? firegl_ioctl+0x1e8/0x250 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814333] [] ? ip_firegl_unlocked_ioctl+0xe/0x20 [fglrx] Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814335] [] ? do_vfs_ioctl+0x8a/0x340 Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814338] [] ? vfs_read+0x10d/0x180 Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814339] [] ? sys_ioctl+0x91/0xa0 Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814342] [] ? system_call_fastpath+0x16/0x1b Oct 25 14:55:46 lt9630 kernel: [ 857.814345] pubdev:0xa02fd600, num of device:1 , name:fglrx, major 8, minor 88.
