Could not send object when copying from local drive to phone sd card.
Today it's first time when I got this error on my phone, everything
worked before I started adb server.
Workaround:
sudo killall adb
After that, 3 500MB files have been successfully copied to phone

I experience the same issue as OP after a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04
4.4.0-72.
Nothing can be done in recovery mode that takes longer than one minute,
otherwise some timeout fires, console spews several screens of messages
indicating processes being stopped, and it loops back into the recovery

I've just upgraded to zesty, and this problem is still present. Since
systemd-resolved is sticking a 127.0.0.53 nameserver in resolv.conf, the
problem is worse. To work around it, I have to replace resolv.conf with
the old dnsmasq 127.0.1.1 address instead to prevent DNS lookups from
going through

I booted into recovery to see if there the network was working again.
It is a bug of Networkmanager. Probably the username 'power' doesn't
affect the connection.
