So you seems dist-upgrading old releases endlessly. That usually ends with lot
of useless/disturbing/broken symlinks/... left behind.

Lubuntu Next was never officially released, even though we had
beta/alpha versions. Additionally, the idea of having both a LXDE and
LXQt image is something we will not be continuing for the Cosmic cycle.
Instead, we will be switching over to LXQt entirely. It will most

I am able to reproduce this following a reinstall of 18.04 from the ISO
image, but only on the same box. No problems on two other computers.
Will try reverting to 17.10 to see if that fixes the problem.

I go through the usual steps but when it comes to the "install the
system" phase, if I select normal (not live) and then "targeted", the
installation stops with an error on init
So, it seems the root is that Japan uses ISO dating typically, even
handwritten, and the new default uses not ISO, and there's no GUI option
to set it as such. Not so much a bug as a design choice.

Thank you for your support but I was able to resolve the issue. The problem
was due to the extensions that I had before upgrading. I wiped all the
extensions and everything worked as a charm
