But this is also upstream the case and htslib is not the only component that is

since bedtools does not clearly list the htslib version that was bundled or I
can't find it (oh, maybe it's 1.9) and the commit does not apply cleanly.

Regarding zlib focal-proposed migration:
For libbio-samtools-perl it's the same situation like on kinetic.
samtools-legacy requires the PR #1258, and libbio-samtools-perl a rebuild (to
link against the new libbio-dev). See update-excuse bug LP#1983255.

Customers report a command going through PAM crashing for a given user.
A potential follow on issue can be that no ssh
Excuse me for chiming in so late, but we can test (and even recreate)
the situation by ourselves on our system (and we have systems with
attached crypto hw to it).
I just tried it on a jammy z/VM guest:

Consider removing irqbalance from
I gave ~ppa5 a try on my s390x system.
If I set all interfaces to "optional: true" (incl. encc000), but except
encc000.2653, I don't face the timeout anymore. But if I UNset
"optional: true" for encc000 on top, I tap into the timeout again.
In the past it was okay to NOT have "optional: true"
