Just a note, that this is solvable if you use Google Chrome to create
web apps instead of Firefox. But since my Chrome is constantly crashing
in Ubuntu 14.04 I would rather use Firefox based web apps which are now
not usable for me without paste option.

If you want web app using Chrome, just go to desired web page (Gmail for
example) and then in Chrome Settings menu choose Tools Create application
shortcuts... It will make web app out of any page and you can put it to
launcher etc.

I am also experiencing this issue couple of times every day. Music in
background keeps on playing and I can move mouse pointer, but everything
else on screen is frozen. Usually if I wait around 30 seconds or if I
switch to tty1 and back to tty7 it also usually solves the problem. Also

It also affects me. Dual monitors, 64 bit, Graphics: IntelĀ® Ivybridge
Desktop - also only every now and then, not always.
When I can't login and try with 'unity --replace' in console (pressing
Ctrl + Alt + F1) I can login again but top menu is missing in all
applications, but 'compiz --replace'
