[Touch-packages] [Bug 1328260] Re: mighty mouse bluetooth not pairing
I was also finally able to get an Apple "Magic Mouse" to work using the command line hack mentioned by the reporter, with Ubuntu 14.04. It's working on a Mac Mini, incidentally, which finally has a decent OS on it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1328260 Title: mighty mouse bluetooth not pairing Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Using the default GUI, I cannot pair my Apple Mighty Mouse. The mouse is detected, but when trying to pair, nothing happens and it is impossible to connect. It seems there should be an agent running to handle the pairing/pin stuff, I found that here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/453655/ubuntu-14-04-bluetooth-magic-mouse-doesnt-pair-no-agent-available It might be an issue with more devices, I did not test it. So the fix: In a terminal as a normal user do: bluez-simple-agent then use pin (worked in my case). [Touch-packages] [Bug 1339714] Re: Application windows do not become active when started via keyboard shortcuts
I learned from here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/457857/ubuntu-14-04-calculator-does-not-get-focus-when-opened-from-keyboard-shortcut ...that the problem seems to only occur with Unity's built-in Launchers (System Settings-Keyboard-Shortcuts-Launchers). Following the suggested answer on AU, I disabled my key-combo for the Launch calculator shortcut, and added a Custom Shortcut to gnome- calculator. Now it works as expected! What's odd is that the Launch terminal built-in Launcher (mapped to Super+T) works fine. It always comes to the foreground and is focused. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1339714 Title: Application windows do not become active when started via keyboard shortcuts Status in Unity: New Status in unity package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I used to start Gnome-calculator and Thunderbird via my keyboard short cuts. This used to work very well andd handy, for my keyboard has some extra keys for those purposes. Now I can still start the desired applications, but I have to do an extra click (or alt-tab) on their window to get them active. This ist particularly annoying and unhandy for the calculator. I tested this contra-productive behaviour on thunderbird and on gnome-calculator. This bug seems to have occured about May 2014, and is active in 14.04 (my desktop computer) and 13.10 (my laptop computer). I consider this a very small bug, and so i hope this is really easy to fix. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1003950] Re: launcher does not show minimized update manager while clicked
If this is related to having two monitors, this is only one of numerous problems I have with 14.04 and dual monitor support, and that my two monitors are different sizes. 14.04 is simply terrible with dual screens. It seems the further we go to try to support the unified mobile/desktop UI for the casual user, the less useful we get for power users. If there's anything I can do to help diagnose this issue, please ask. I'm happy to help but don't have time to dig into any code. That's what I already spend the rest of my life doing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1003950 Title: launcher does not show minimized update manager while clicked Status in Unity: Fix Released Status in Unity 5.0 series: Fix Released Status in Unity 6.0 series: Fix Released Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity” source package in Precise: Fix Released Status in “update-manager” source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in “unity” source package in Quantal: Fix Released Status in “update-manager” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Bug description: Update manager is showing up in the dock but I can click on the icon all day and nothing happens. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1003950] Re: launcher does not show minimized update manager while clicked
Hi. I also see this problem frequently--probably every time that updates are available. I'm here because I saw it again this morning. I leave the computer on overnight (since suspend doesn't work for me in 14.04) and when I arrive at work in the morning, System Update is often running but won't appear. This morning when I clicked it, it switched to another workspace, but no window. Clicked it again, and it switched back to the first workspace, but still no window. Since 14.04 decided to do away with the Updates available in the gear menu, I don't even know how to launch system updates. There was a context-menu option on the launcher icon for the updater, which offered to install all available updates. I don't know if that would have worked, because I always review the updates before installing. I also have two monitors. Both are plugged in and turned on when I see the problem. Of course, at night the monitors are turned off, and that is when the updater usually gets launched. So perhaps it does have something to do with a cable plugged in (one is HDMI, one is DVI) with no attached monitor that is turned on. What's worse is I that when I hit Win-R to launch the run menu and type software updater, it happily lists it as an option (but only with the gears icon) and when I click it nothing happens. How is it that it's not accessible via the run menu? I actually came across this bug today because I couldn't figure out how to run the thing manually. I can do apt-get upgrade from the command line and have some idea of what's being installed, but not with the detail that the software updater provides. 14.04 has some nice touches, but I sure miss how solid 12.04 was...
One other thing--I think Compiz tends to crash every night, because in the morning I find whatever windows I left open scattered around my first workspace. Perhaps this could be reproduced by launching the Software updater and then crashing Compiz? Or running 'compiz --replace'?
