[Touch-packages] [Bug 1735594] Re: [regression] compiz crashes after Mesa upgrade
** Changed in: mesa (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1735594 Title: [regression] compiz crashes after Mesa upgrade Status in mesa package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in mesa source package in Xenial: Fix Released Status in mesa source package in Artful: Fix Committed Bug description: [Impact] When I use the Unity session I automatically get logged out under these conditions: When I hover with my mouse over any icon of the sidebar. When I press the alt key. When I press the super key. running dmesg after this unwanted logout happens I get following information: compiz[10616]: segfault at 0 ip 7fbca309feeb sp 7fff5f59a4d0 error 4 in i965_dri.so[7fbca2af6000+7e4000] This is caused by a mesa upgrade, which added a patch for bug #1727401. The crasher is reproduced on: - gen4 / gen5 Intel - if using modesetting X driver, like when xserver-xorg-video-intel is not installed, or the HWE stack is installed (xserver-xorg-core-hwe-16.04 defaults to modesetting) [Test case] Log in to Unity, open the dash or try to log out etc. Compiz shouldn't crash. [Regression potential] The backported patches need to be tested, here for regressions and on 1727401 that they fix the original bug (again). Best to test on a wide array of Intel HW: gen4 (965GM/GM45/G45) gen5 (Ironlake) gen6 (Sandy Bridge) gen7 (Bay Trail, Ivy Bridge, Haswell) gen8 (Braswell, Broadwell) gen9 (Apollo Lake, Skylake, Gemini Lake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1735594/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Additionally, opening the department drop-down shows the previously selected department as still being active/applied. Recommendation: Apps Scope is a special case where we should clear searches and reset departments (including within the department drop-dow) when a user navigates away from the scope. When there is no back or navigation drawer, there may be three slots on the right side of the title". https://design.ubuntu.com/apps/building-blocks/header - On a default header, max 3 slots for actions, one for title - On multi-select mode, 4 slots for actions The rule is really simple and it should not confuse the user. Usability/Beta testing do not show any issues in this regards sofar. ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Importance: Medium => Low ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Status: New => Fix Committed ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Status: Fix Committed => Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1420748 Title: Always reserve space for three actions in header Status in Ubuntu UX bugs: Opinion Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Currently there is room for 3 actions directly in the header, including a back/cancel button or tabs button on the left side. So without a button on the left, there is room for 3 actions on the right, but when there is an action on the left, only 2 actions are allowed on the right side. I think this is confusing for the users (some times you have 3 buttons, and some times 1 normal button plus an overflow button with two actions in the overflow) and not really necessary. I propose to (on a phone) always reserve space for 3 actions on the right side in the header, even if there is an action in the left of the header. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1424588] Re: unable to center popover in caller
- Dialogs are definitively modal, as they interrupt the user interaction and need to be interacted upon. They can't be simply dismissed on tap. - Pop-overs are less modal and they can be safely ignored by tapping outside them https://design.ubuntu.com/apps/building-blocks/dialog I believe these two components are related from a SDK perspective, but to the user the behave and look different. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424588 Title: unable to center popover in caller Status in Ubuntu UX bugs: New Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The design for the browser app’s contextual menu requires the popover to be centered inside its caller (the webview). Pair that with the header going off-screen to leave more screen for the content, you have to pull the header in first (and you need to know that's where the button will be). An example of this behaviour is the calendar app when adding/editing an event. One other example (although that could be improved easily by auto-saving the new note as soon as it's edited) is the Quick Memo app, where when you create a note in the first place you need to tap the ✓ icon, but when you're editing, it's all auto-saved and you need to tap 〈 to go back to the list of notes. I feel like we need to at least come up with clear guidance on what belongs in the header, and where a footer with buttons should be used (we have a way to stick something on top of the keyboard after all¹). http://developer.ubuntu.com/api/qml/sdk-1.0/Ubuntu.Components.MainView /#anchorToKeyboard-prop ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: qtdeclarative5-ubuntu-ui-toolkit-plugin 1.1.1364+15.04.20141209-0ubuntu2 Uname: Linux 3.4.67 armv7l ApportVersion: 2.15-0ubuntu3 Architecture: armhf Date: Tue Jan 6 17:03:54 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-12-17 (20 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch) - armhf (20141217-020204) SourcePackage: ubuntu-ui-toolkit UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/quick-memo/+bug/1408015/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1407730] Re: [browser] Support multiple app instances in the spread
Personally, I think there is some good thinking here. I proposed a similiar idea to the design team for dealing with multiple browser windows, especially useful when switching between different interaction modes (i.e. docked phone showing a window UI) I don't agree with saviq though that the right edge would be more efficient than the bottom edge. With the bottom edge you can switch tabs with a single swipe, or worse case swipe & tap. With the right edge spread gesture, you would be cluttered with information from other apps (redundant if your only purpouse is to switch tabs in the current app). Happy to discuss this at the next sprint. All in all, I feel this bug/suggestion goes beyond the browser and into all apps that support multiple instances/windows/tab. I'll assign this to vesa as he is the one working on this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1407730 Title: [browser] Support multiple app instances in the spread Status in Ubuntu UX bugs: Triaged Status in qtmir package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: New Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Related to bug #1198714 and design http://design.canonical.com/2014/05 /the-browser-is-dead-long-live-the-browser/. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1391548] Re: [sdk] + [header]Portuguese words in selection header don't fit
There are a few different strategies we could use here to mitigate the issue: 1) By default, the action could have a max width at 2x the default width, but the app developer can decide to change that to a custom value 2) By default, I would add a semitransparent gradient like at the end of the browser URL when it exceeds the available width 3) The translator could come up with a different word. See http://goo.gl/qj6Pgi 4) The translator could come up with a shortening eg. compartil. ** Changed in: ubuntu-ux Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391548 Title: [sdk] + [header]Portuguese words in selection header don't fit Status in Ubuntu UX bugs: In Progress Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: See http://imgur.com/EZ1lqUI and http://imgur.com/RPRe8Bm Probably this will happen in other languages as well.
