[Touch-packages] [Bug 2049712] [NEW] Acer Switch Alpha 12: Keyboard does not wake after suspend

2024-01-17 Thread Kenneth Hanson
Public bug reported:

This is a tablet computer with a detachable keyboard and touchpad. When
I close and open the lid, the computer goes to sleep and wakes up as
expected, but the entire keyboard portion does not. The backlight stays
off, and keys and touchpad are unresponsive. Removing and reattaching
the keyboard is the only way to fix the problem.

This problem has been present as long as I've had the tablet (2022),
with queries on the web going back to when the computer was released
(2016). However, I can't find a bug report, so I'm posting one now.

Perhaps related: if I try to sleep via the DE (KDE Plasma), command
line, or power button, the computer fails to go to sleep. The screen
turns back on with the lock screen, and the keyboard backlight does not
go off.

Release: Kubuntu 23.10
Package version: 1.4.1.19

** Affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

2023-07-18 Thread Kenneth Hanson
Bug is still present with network-manager 1.40.0-1ubuntu2 on Kubuntu

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  I'm trying to connect to an open (i.e. no ecryption) WLAN with
  network-manager 1.36.0-1ubuntu2 on 22.04 but it's failing with the
  following error message (after selecting the network from the network-
  manager applet prompt):

  Mär 08 10:50:04 Isaac-Laptop NetworkManager[31754]:
  [1646733004.4425] audit: op="connection-add-activate" pid=12122
  uid=1000 result="fail" reason="802-11-wireless-security.key-mgmt:
  Access point does not support PSK but setting requires it"

  I haven't changed any of the default settings for network-manager and
  this network worked on 20.04.

  Binary package hint: xdg-utils

  In order to reproduce it execute "xdg-open *.desktop" (choose any
  .desktop file, e.g. one from /usr/share/applications). Actually your
  favorite text editor will open the file. Expected result: It'll be
  executed.

  Because of this bug, desktop entries with the new "#!/usr/bin/env xdg-
  open" shebang feature were opened in the text editor when executed
  from command line.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1706126] Re: XDG_DATA_DIRS XDG_CONFIG_DIRS MANDATORY_PATH DEFAULTS_PATH are not set correctly

2018-03-24 Thread Kenneth Hanson
I have the this problem on Xenial. Double slash in XDG_DATA_DIRS and a
minus in XDG_CONFIG_DIRS.

Even worse, when I tried to append paths for Flatpak to XDG_DATA_DIRS
using an .env file in my home directory, the result was so broken that
Plasma failed to start. I've undone the change since then, but I
remember a double colon in there, and my additions appearing in the
middle of the string rather than the beginning or end as expected.

This seems rather serious to me.

Bug description:
  after login to my plasma session I noticed the following strange path
  in some XDG env variables missing the : separator

  pascal@minipc:~$ env | grep XDG
  XDG_VTNR=7
  XDG_SESSION_ID=264
  XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11

XDG_DATA_DIRS=/home/pascal/kde/share:/usr/share//usr/share/xsessions/plasma:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop

  As you see the following 2 env variables are not setup correctly :

  pascal@minipc:~$ env | grep PATH | grep '//'
  MANDATORY_PATH=/usr/share/gconf//usr/share/xsessions/plasma.mandatory.path
  DEFAULTS_PATH=/usr/share/gconf//usr/share/xsessions/plasma.default.path

  The same for :

  pascal@minipc:~$ env | grep XDG | grep '//'

XDG_DATA_DIRS=/home/pascal/kde/share:/usr/share//usr/share/xsessions/plasma:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/var/lib/snapd/desktop

  You can also notice the 'xdg-/usr/xxx' in the following :

  XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=/etc/xdg/xdg-/usr/share/xsessions/plasma:/etc/xdg:/usr/share
  /kubuntu-default-settings/kf5-settings

  For XDG variables they seem to be set up here :

  pascal@minipc:~$ dpkg -S /etc/X11/Xsession.d/60x11-common_xdg_path
  x11-common: /etc/X11/Xsession.d/60x11-common_xdg_path
