[Touch-packages] [Bug 1994562] [NEW] Ubuntu settings gets very laggy most of the times in 22.10

2022-10-26 Thread florin
Public bug reported:

Everything related to settings in the newly released Ubuntu 22.10 is
very laggy. It might work fine for a while, then when I try scrolling,
it laggs and nothing happens for a few seconds. It might even crash.
This happens in Settings, in Extension Manager or some GS extension's
settings.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1779237] Re: package python3 3.6.5-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: installed python3 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 4

2018-10-31 Thread florin
Worked also on Ubuntu 18.10.

To reply to @Steve Langasek (@vorlon) - Why do we need to install the
HPLIP from HP? In my case, I could not select if to print in color or
black or grayscale, this option was simply missing for some
reason.

That is true, it should be the same color for icon and label as they are
one item.

Bug description:
The new theming of the Nautilus sidebar is confusing to users. The icons and
the icon labels have a different background colour, and when a specific
location is selected the background colour of the selected icon changes to be
the same as the background colour of the labels, while the other icons have a
darker background colour.
This is giving the impression that the text labels are a hierarchy of the
icon, rather than simply being labels associated with each icon.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1749714] [NEW] Cannot show misspelled wifi password

2018-02-15 Thread florin
Public bug reported:

The so-called upgrade to Gnome Shell came with some pretty bad things
also for wifi management.

One of the bad things is that one cannot know what introduced in the
wifi password text box. There is not "show password" option to actually
see what we introduced over there, like in any other OS (Windows, Ubuntu
with Unity, Android, etc.).

I have made this comparision video between Unity and Gnome Shell:

Crash when setting laptop display resolution

  Fix Released

Bug description:
This system has a 4k laptop screen with resolution 3840x2160, and an
external HP monitor connected via HDMI, resolution 1920x1200. Windows,
fonts etc are not scaled properly on the external monitor (too large,
etc), and the only workaround I've found with earlier versions and
other distros is to set the laptop display to 1920x1080 mode, so
that's what I'm trying here as well.

However, when doing that, the X (wayland, not sure if the package is
correct here) session crashes and brings me back to login screen.

So to summarize: connect the external monitor, go to Settings >
Devices > Displays, click primary built in display, observe that it
shows Resolution 3840x2160 (16:9) and Scale 200%, change resolution to
  1920x1080 (16:9), click Apply --> crash.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1067434] Re: Sound output device keeps changing when using headphones

2017-07-17 Thread Rada Florin-Daniel
If someone reaches this page again with this problem, try this:
Install alsamixer if you don't have it installed.
Open a terminal and execute the command below:
alsamixer -c0
this will run the alsamixer, use the left/right arrows and find "loopback"
option(Usually it's on the right side). When you find it make sure it's
disabled, if it's enabled, press the "down" arrow to change it to disabled.
When you did this, press ctrl+c to exit alsamixer.
Check and see if the problem is gone or it's still there. It should be solved.

Title:
Sound output device keeps changing when using headphones

Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Recently upgraded to 12.10. Having issues with sound when using
headphones plugged into the front ports. Something that doesn't happen
when booting to windows - so fairly confident it's an Ubuntu issue.

When listening to any sound, music, video etc the sound levels jump up
and down and click. If I open "sound" from the settings menu when
playing videos or music and viewing the "output" tab I can see
"headphone - built-in audio disappear and reappear (very quickly) so
I'm guessing the system is jumping back to the "analogue output" and
back again which is why the sound volume changes and clicks.

Worth noting I never used my headphones when 12.04 was installed so
not sure if it's this OS or Ubuntu hates my hardware generally. Booted
from live cd (usb) to 12.04 and there wasnt any issue.

Anyone seen this before? any advice?

Sound is built in to motherboard. I have the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1574642] Re: mediascanner-service-2.0 prevents ejecting, unmounting & or formatting usb drives in a desktop session

2017-07-06 Thread Florin Gherendi
I also have this problem with 16.04LTS since a very long time, and many others
that are not even worked on (kernel panics on shutdown, systemd taking forever
to shutdown mysql or other random services, sticky notes no longer working, etc
etc). And the irony is that most of the times the bug reports are closed for
"lack of activity".
Due to the increasing number of problems occuring from one LTS to another LTS
version of Ubuntu, and most of the bugs being solved in the following release
but never in the LTS version, I don't see a reason in calling it LTS (Long Time
Support); and I also don't have time to backport the solutions or replace the
whole distribution every time a bug is solved, so I am seriously beginning to
think to migrate to a cutting-edge pure Debian or even Linux From Scratch and
keep it like that; it would cause less trouble and less waste of time.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1551351] Re: dhclient does not renew leases

2016-11-08 Thread Florin Gherendi
It happens to me after recent updates in 16.04 LTS. On boot I get an IP
from the DHCP server, all is well, but the IP is dropped after a while,
without complaint from network manager applet which still shows like the
network is connected. Unplugging and plugging the ethernet cable solves
the problem for the whole day. Looking in the syslog it appears that
NetworkManager is started at boot time and then systemd tries to start
it again, causing an IP conflict:

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1542733] Re: Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network, "Connect" grayed out

2016-07-24 Thread florin
There is another connected bug, not only for hidden wifi, but also for
regular wifi connections, they simply don't appear in the applet list
and the system does not auto connect as it should do.

This workaround I found yesterday works:

`sudo iwlist wlan0 scan`

where `wlan0` is the name of your wireless interface.

Doing this all wifi networks are back there and the system auto
connects.
