[Touch-packages] [Bug 1930914] Re: ubuntu-minimal depends on ubuntu-advantage-tools
> Canonical needs to make money and those ads aren't spammy at all. I get ads on every single SSH login, that is incredibly spammy. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1930914] Re: ubuntu-minimal depends on ubuntu-advantage-tools
This is just malicious. You are not only packacking Ubuntu as adware, you are making it deliberately harder to unbreak for people interested specifically in spam removal. While Ubuntu with easily removed ads would be still adware it would be at least less annoying for people wishing to fix it. And here you make deliberately harder to remove ads, despite that it would already requires tinkering not done by vast majority of people. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-meta in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1930914 Title: ubuntu-minimal depends on ubuntu-advantage-tools Status in ubuntu-meta package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: This is counter to #1566183 There is no reason to enforce desktop users who manage machine on their own to install ubuntu-advantage- tools, especially when this is 'minimal' version. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1988819] Re: When apt keeps back packages due to phased updates, it should say so
How can I simply disable phased packages? (I was hit numerous times by outdated packages, never had problem with update causing problems so for me this just makes things worse anyway) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to apt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1988819 Title: When apt keeps back packages due to phased updates, it should say so Status in apt package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After phased updates have been introduced, it may happen that apt upgrade shows packages as upgradable but ends up not upgrading them. In this case the packages are indicated as being "kept back". Unfortunately, the feedback provided about this to the user is not very informative. The user sees the packages being kept back and thinks something is going wrong on the system. When packages are kept back because of phased updates, apt should say so e.g., it should say that the upgrade is delayed. Incidentally note that aptitude does not respect phased updates.
