My problem is, If I connect an external display (monitor, projector,
etc) Ubuntu detects it only once, only the first time I plug it in.
After that, I can't reconnect that external display again, Ubuntu does
not see it. After a system restart the disply is detected again, for

After several days using the system the graphics performance degrades. I
cannot find any information in syslog or dmesg. It takes an awful amount
of time to open a new window, and during that time the mouse is trapped
into one of the monitors (cannot move to the other one).
@lukasz, yeah this would also be affecting vivid. However at the moment
the alarms feature in vivid is broken badly due to SDK Alarms API
(alarms backend rewritten for performance and other benefits). Thereby

Howard, It's having the usernames come from ldap, rather than the local
system, that causes policykit to have weird stuff happen, that causes
screen locking. It's all interconnected :)

The Caps Lock key light is being toggled when I press the Caps Lock key.
When I ssh in and do a shutdown -r now then X is shut down. Instead I
