Hi John
Thanks for that bit of info. Good to know - every Linux is different -
and I think that's actually a neat feature.

Hi garym
Thanks for your input. It sounds pretty simple indeed.
Does this mean that if I install the 3rd party applet, the Touch will
work as normal? (What differences will I experience, except of course
the obvious USB and 24/192 output).
Re. your point 5: I'm am a skeptic about digital
USB support for the Touch indeed is an interesting topic, thanks to
Touch for bringing it to life, yet it is surprising to find 135 pages of
information and questions. I worry about having to read all of it. Is
there a summary somewhere that I could read instead?

Hi Mnyb
I think you nailed it ... your input made me check my NAS in a different
way ... right you are ...
That didn't work (adding a new line to the root crontab) ... rebooting
the device didn't either.
Hi Mnyb
Fair questions. I'm running LMS from a NAS:
NAS: Synology Diskstation413
Running LMS 7.7.2 - r33893
Router time is good
NAS time is good
Laptop computer time is good
... Only the Touch is
Hi Julf
Thanks for helping me out (sorry to the original author for hijacking
his thread)
mkdir -p /var/spool/cron/crontabs ... executed
crontab -l ... now replies:
crontab: can't open 'root': No such file or directory
... I suppose I just didn't create a crontab yet (with crontab -e ...)
Just so that future readers of this thread can be helped in the best
possible way.
For the latest setups NTP is already installed in the Touch.
I have:
Player Model: Squeezebox Touch
Firmware: 7.7.2-r9663

Go into settings - advanced on the Touch itself and re-enable
Hi pgeorges
I've been irritated about the time drift on my Touch for a while ...
during Easter I worked on in on-and-off.
First hurdle was to install putty on the Windows 7 laptop computer.
Second was to go into the Touch Settings - Advanced - and enable Remote
Login ... the screen provides you
Oh BTW.
I also searched for cron ... didn't find it. From root I executed
crontab -l and here's the reply:
crontab: chdir(/var/spool/cron/crontabs): No such file or directory

Hi pgeorges
Good to hear you solved it. I hope the thread could help you anyway,
even if it got a bit sidetracked ... so f.x. - did you sync to the
flash (as described by John)?
P.S. come to think about it, it's because the Linux is loaded to a RAM
disk.

Hi
Is this security issue something I should worry about with my Touch?

Hi 2string1
I'm sorry about your bad experience with Wellborne Labs.
My experience is old by now, but positive. You can read more here:

Hi there
I have a SB Touch and am contemplating to use the USB output to connect
with a DAC - to improve sound quality.
One such DAC could be Henry: https://www.henryaudio.no/
This DAC is said to work with computers (Win, Mac, Linux). Does anyone
know if this DAC would work with the Touch
My Touch died - I was away for a couple of weeks, so I unplugged it. Now
that I plugged it back into the wall, the display doesn't come up, and I
can see a diode in the back that keeps blinking (and I also hear a bip
sound that keeps repeating in my loudspeakers). I'll see if I can find
another
The way to install Jivelite in piCorePlayer is to open a browser, enter
the IP address of your player, which gives you the piCorePlayer web
interface. Then go to the TWEAKS page. You install JiveLite with a puch
of a button. It's that easy.

Hi celo
First I thought about responding "define better" ... Better could also
be usability, flexibility, versability.
Carefully reading your post, I suppose you're happy with the Touch and
actually you mean sound quality. The Touch is good enough for most
purposes, but yes there's better

Hi garym
Yes, and what about Napster, Deezer, Amazon CD store, MusicIP, Orange
Liveradio and Slacker, etc?
Is there a way we could check all the plugins and maybe create a list of
ones that no longer function?

Is there a list of plug-ins that no longer work?

Hi redtom
I see you're right. For example the Bel Canto 2Qute dac ... (the 2Qute
is a Chord), and also the Benchmark 'mytek' dac is new to me :-?.
P.S. I tried the RME Audio ADI-2 DAC FS and it didn't work. Probably
needs a USB-hub between (not tested).
