I had difficulties booting the netinstall iso on my librebooted X200. This is
how it worked for me:
1. Put the netinstall iso on a USB drive instead of burning a CD
2. In the built-in grub choose the option that says "external" instead of
"USB"

~/.config, then renaming that hidden folder and restarting the session (no
need to reboot the system) makes you go back to the default configuration

Trisquel 8 I imagine could be different, but more than likely its something
of a bug.
Hibernate however works very badly on trisquel 7, so I assume the same can be
said for trisquel 8.

Do you mean that panel/shutdown/etc is working like it was in guest? If
so, what problems are you still having?

Correction - we are getting somewhere.
I noticed that the default was booting as trisquel (instead of mate on the
screen where you select your username)
When I corrected that everything booted as it was in guest.
I'll continue playing - hopefully will get it sorted
I tried something else
I booted up a guest login and then copied all the information in the .config
file.
I then pasted that into the ~/.config file in my area. But it still doesn't
boot properly, even though it did when running in guest.
There must be something else which is also
