IrishUSA, I've been lurking for sometime now...but I couldn't resist
suggesting a name.
How about "Purish"?
Anyone have any experience with Pydio? Thoughts on it?
https://pydio.com
I'm curious what alternatives there are to Dropbox, and others' thoughts in
general.
Thanks MB!
Going to give gimpforums.com a shot!
Hey Community,
I'm interested in becoming active on a GIMP forum, and I found the "Clubs"
list on Gimp.org (http://www.gimp.org/links/).
Any suggestions for a good GIMP forum, on or off that list?
Thanks.
It looks like Gimptalk.com is one of the biggest, and gimpforums.com seems
the most active.
I purchased several of their Wifi USB devices and have received incredible
support.
OK. Great. I will give it a shot.
Thanks!
I deleted the logs, and everything is running fine. Thanks.
I also ran a software update. Will that take care of old kernels?
I received a warning today:
The volume Filesystem root has only 39.1 MB disk space remaining.
You can free up disk space by removing unused programs or files, or by moving
files to another disk or partition.
I have 20GB allocated for my system files partition.

Hi Iman,
I've been with the community for over a year now, and just a few months ago I
finally fully transitioned to Trisquel for daily work - also switching from
Mac. Learning the ins and outs of Free software (plus the command line here
and there) has been a gradual and rewarding
I'll keep this in mind.
Thanks!
The N USB just went out on me, unfortunetly just before I got to the new
firmware. It had the same symptoms as the last few times.
Fortunately, I have the G and it is working fine. It has really great
reception too. Should I use the new firmware with the G, or should I stick
with the older
Thank you, this was very helpful.
I didn't remember seeing a seperate partition when installing. I used rEFIT
when installing dualboot, following these instructions:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MactelSupportTeam/AppleIntelInstallation#Dual-Boot:_Mac_OSX_and_Ubuntu
Could mine being on the same partition be because I
Chris, thanks. The N is still running fine. Do you recommend that I update
the firmware as a precaution? Or should I only do so if symptoms arrise?
Finally, how do I install the firmware? Do I just drop the files into the
/lib/firmware directory?
I'm using Trisquel about ninety percent of the time now! I'm currently using
a dual boot, and I have a seperate partition for my files, i.e., to share
between the OSs.
Since I've been using Trisquel much more, I was considering moving my files
to the Trisquel partition. But then I became
Sounds great! Thanks!
I have since received the two adapters, the Wireless N and G. They were
promptly shipped, and - shortly after Thanksgiving - I was back to working in
Trisquel.
I ordered the N again to compare and contrast, and to see how it would react
if I did things a bit different. Plus, if it does
My second Think Pinguin adapter Wireless N USB Adapter (TPE-N150USB) stopped
working with my Macbook Air 2011. It happened in a very similar fashion to my
last USB adapter; which was the same model.
I hadn't used the adapter because I was still working in OS X. But after a
year of
I just want to say the new site looks great, and I'm so happy to be a member
and to be apart of this. Thank you!
Great news! Thanks for the links.
I believe it may be possible to override the convenience factor by providing
informative and free (actually as in gratis) classes with FREE software. This
could be foundation courses such as image manipulation, video/audio editing,
basic web development, and—importantly—computer programming
OK. Cool, thanks!
So, because I'm still a rookie at this, I have another question; should I go
with the 944M triskel_7.0-20140629_i686.iso version? I'm assuming that the

Also, I understand the Apple shame. I remember being mocked when having an

Jabjabs, OK. Cool, thanks!

I'm glad I asked! Thanks.
OK, thanks! So I have another question too—I'm still a bit new with this.
Some time ago, I managed to install Trisquel 6.0 on my Macbook Air, dual
boot, via reEFit.
Similarly, I'd like to install a pre-release of Trisquel on an older MacBook
Pro, i.e., MacBookPro5,1 with a 2.66 Intel Core
I'm on Trisquel 6, and I just want to make sure I understand this correctly.
So, if I install a pre-release, then when 7.0 is officially released I can
upgrade from within my pre-release install? That is, instead of a installing
from another new ISO? Is that correct?
And also, is the
Does anyone, perhaps from the event, have some news?
I wasn't aware of these developments. Thanks for the links!
I'm looking forward to hearing the news!
I've been anticipating 7 for some time, especially with news of a newer
version of Pitivi in the mix.
I've been thinking about this too. Could more grass root efforts like this be
the key?
Most major propriety companies have a strong hold on small business
solutions, e.g., just about every small office has the MS suite. But perhaps
providing continual support, e.g., transition and then
Hi Joavig,
Per Andrew in another thread, You should be able to press
ALT+Super+right-click and then move one of them. Then do
ALT+Super+right-click and delete the duplicate one.

This may help.
Ah great! I ran into a very similar problem at one point; I'm glad the link
helped.
My word. What's next? Water in a cup?
I'm not quite at the level to test, but I just wanted to say I'm looking
forward to the official release of 7...and playing with a more stable version
of the newer Pitivi!
I just recently received this news from FSF also.
This reminds me of when Adobe released its Creative suite, free of charge, to
students at my University. Shortly after, they started pushing their cloud
software. In hindsight, I question their intentions and the effects. I know
that I am
This is great news. I look forward to giving it a try.
axgb, I didn't bash it, so I think it may have just been a bad apple. The new
adapter was less expensive, shipped fast, and has been working very well.
alguien, I normally wear a hazmat suit when descending in the silicon maze,
but this is a USB (plug-and-play) adapter.
So after Pitivi released version 0.93, with All-in-one distro-agnostic
bundles, I decided to give it another go.
http://www.pitivi.org/?go=download
I unpacked a 64 bit version into a folder on my desktop. The unpacked
documents/programs didn't include a Pitivi icon (still attached). After
I received the new adapter and it connected to the Internet immediately.
lammi87, thank you.
I ran the command and this was the output:

Also, thanks for the link.
I believe it may be best to wait for the other USB adapter to arrive before
making any changes to the OS/kernel. This may help diagnose whether or not it
is the hardware.
I will

Hi Chris, I'm running on the 6.0.1 version. Is that the latest kernel? I'm
new to some of the terminology, by the way. I'm gradually learning.
I also recently ordered another adapter for testing.
OK. Here are the results.

Also, I haven't gotten over my spelling mishap.
Yes, I tried both USB ports and had the same results. I just did it again for
good measure. I even tried blowing in it, like I used to with my old
Colecovision game cartridges. Still, no luck.
The wi-fi was going in and out several months ago. Perhaps, during
inactivity, what ever was
I purchased a Think Pinguin Wireless USB Adapter (TPE-N150USB) sometime ago.
I then re-installed Trisquel with an updated iso image (6.0.1).
This got me up and running online. However, after several months, I restarted
Trisquel and it was no longer able to connect to a wireless network.
Oh man, embarrassing, I just realized that I fell victim to OSX auto
correct...followed by a copy and past. Could a moderator please correct the
name of the adapter so that it reflects the swimming bird and not the prickly
plant?
OK. I will get to this later today, if not early tomorrow. Thank you!
I've been a user of Final Cut Pro (FCP) since version 1; it is actually why I
had original switched to that evil empire, before they were so notorious. But
after dumping thousands into their software, version X made me sick. It
wasn't so much because I hated it interface, but it is because I
I decided to throw in the towel on this for now.
I read another thread about how Pitivi 0.92 is an Alpha version. This thread
also mentioned that Pitivi 1 will eventually be packaged for the
repositories. I'm more in the user arena, and it seems the Alpha version is
out of my reach. It
Just a quick update: I'm going to create a second installation of Trisquel to
play with—this way I won't effect my already working installation.
I will be working on this little-by-little overtime.
OK. Thanks. I check into this.
I wish Piviti had a newer version in the launchpad.net repositories. It
appears that they make the jump from 0.15 all the way to the 0.92 compilable
installation. Hopefully there is a small tweak that will get it up and
running.
I know I have a lot to
Yes, same thing happened to me. I then discovered that on a Macs track pad,
you need to use two fingers to right click.
Magic Banana, that solved the panel issue. I also discovered that to right
click on a Macbook Air, you need to use two fingers on the touch pad.
Is the second suggestion you mentioned for the panel issue? Or is that
regarding Pitivi? Is that because I may have thrown off some other

I can get to this, but I will follow-up as soon as I do.
Magic Banana, I started that package route and got three packages deep before
hitting a block.
I then discovered an Ubuntu repository and a wiki about Pitivi's dependencies
(http://wiki.pitivi.org/wiki/Dependencies).
I first tried adding the repository and upating my system:

I apologize, I meant Pitivi 0.92. I was interested in working with their
latest edition and, perhaps, joining in for feedback. Any help installing
would be appreciated.

pretty big differences between 1 2—so I opted
