As of now, I've installed GNOME, XFCE, i3WM, and fluxbox in addition to the
default Trisquel. I'm using fluxbox these days as I find it very stable. But
I like them all in different ways. Then there are the email clients. I have
evolution, alpine, mutt, icedove, claws, and geary. If I'm not
I would try these experiments:
1.) Open a terminal and type the command for a specific module of Libre
Office: /usr/bin/lowriter or /usr/bin/localc or /usr/bin/loimpress and so on.
Do it without sudo and then with sudo. What messages did you get in the
terminal when it crashes? Try each
Was this one of the stock Trisquel backgrounds? What does the background of
your login screen look like?
Well, I completely removed icecat in synaptic and then reinstalled. That
didn't work. I disabled all of the plugins. That didn't work. However, I've
a had a more recent problem with icecat. When I type in a URL and hit Enter,
icecat freezes and when I run top I see it is using over 100%
lol GNU forbid!
Regarding safety, you need to compare specific programs. I don't think you
can make a blanket statement like that about command-line programs.
Apparently Canon has at least one driver that is freedom respecting:

I'm not sure if they have one for your printer, but it is encouraging!
Have you looked to see if canon has a driver? My Dad has a Canon--different
model, but wifi. Downloaded the driver and followed the instructions from
Canon took 15 minutes (after 4 hours of fruitless effort before that!).
If I were pursuing this, I would look into how to make a plugin or an
extension (or at least find out the difference!). I wouldn't focus on
launchy.
For myself, right now I'm happy with all the options I have. In most cases

you as soon as possible for pointing me in the right direction. When I know
more, I'll post again.

Try and download the browser called 'lynx'. It is a text-based browser.
After installing it, open a terminal and type:lynx www.duckduckgo.com
Then use the up/down arrows to move to the search field, type in something to
search, hit the
That is a good point! I am not sure. He is no longer using Trisquel so it is
not relevant for him anymore but you should make sure.
This looks more like open source than free software, but as long as the
source is available couldn't a free software version ultimately be created?

This also begs the question, 'What, if anything, do people do about the
software in their cars?'. In my case
After watching a video of a couple of jackasses talking about Amazon's
'rights', the following occurred to me:
If every Amazon customer knew the most important points in Amazon's draconian
license, how much would it hurt Amazon's sales? Imagine a dialog popping up
stating to a buyer of
