Installed Mint once so don't really know if I am sure about the repos? I followed a forum post on here about a few users who were running Tris 6.0 with cinnamon installed. I looked for the error message that I got regarding cinnamon in this forum but didn't see any other comments about it.

Instead of creating "yet another desktop" I suggest creating a Trisquel Server edition ISO much like the one from Ubuntu that includes specific applications to that environment.

Are you really sure about the linux mint repos? They don't care much about free software; I think the danger of getting some proprietary libs or dependences is to high. You should study very carefully which packages get installed.
