Lots? I'm aware of one. I can't find the link now, but there's one issue
whereby IIRC incorrectly implemented addons can be used for
fingerprinting. Are you aware of other issues?

Ads wouldn't be a problem for me except for one thing,
I kind don't trust them given so many companies do this thing called
malvertising where they track you with them. That is uncalled for, and a
security risk. So yeah, I block all of them.
That being said, Epic is a trash web browser
Download Tor Browser, extract, run the executable.
To add menu entry, run @ Tor Browser folder in terminal:
./start-tor-browser.desktop --register-app
You might need to log out/in to update the menu.

Since your concern is privacy, I assume that you mean that you want to
install a VPN *client* in order to use a VPN service, not run your own
VPN service. You can do this on Trisquel. I personally use Mullvad.[1]
