Thanks :) Openmailbox seems great
HI! Thank you :)
The old kernel didn't work why didn't I knew about Trisquel before buying my
laptop with radeon :(
FSF has a page on mail service providers.
https://www.fsf.org/resources/webmail-systems
Riseup.net is good as far as I know but requires an invitation if you can't
convince them you're a journalist or an activist. They don't just take
anybody.
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/what-kind-email-services-are-you-using-and-recommend-and-why
I know google is not the best option for an email service, and I was
wondering, what options do i have that you recommend as trisquel users that
care about free software - as in freedoom of speech
Privacy Badger can be installed on IceCat and it is also part of the list of
extensions that the Free Software Foundation support
https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Privacy_Badger
If you are worried there is a Download option in that link that allows you to
install privacy badger from the
+1 for Bandcamp.
Use a Google dork and search for
inurl:bandcamp.com AND "some rights reserved" AND "genre here"
or similar.
There's also a guy who has been running a CC music radio station for several
years now that I always listen to. Rynothebearded.com he interviews CC
artists and posts
Hei!
Thank you for your help! I will.
But I think I also can help to test the newer kernel, I would be glad to help
even just a little bit :)
Are you suggesting a modification of the extension without the link to the
FAQ?
Shuttleworth must be thinking Microsoft will buy him out. There never was a
successful partnership with MS unless it means "to part with your
brainchild".
Here is the manual: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installing-mate
Working with more and more free software on Windows, maybe discovering the
philosophy of our movement through this software, the Windows user will
hopefully end up migrating to GNU/Linux. In fact, she may already plan a
migration and starts with this software to get used to it before the
I would first advise you to read
https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/GnomeShell/CheatSheet and discover useful
shortcuts.
Then see http://extensions.gnome.org for extensions to GNOME Shell. Those
extensions can completely modify the interface. GNOME Classic actually is a
set of extensions
Free software movement is very strong, now I see why corporations are scared,
but I do not know if they understimate that. Few time ago I convinced someone
to install Trisquel, he asked me to install Windows 7 but I free his mind.
I´ll install Trisquel on his machine, soon
Jxself, if you have a Radeon hack to make it work around blobs, I'm sure
folks at #parabola would want to hear about it. They build their own kernels,
not simply using Linux-libre.
Hm, you're right, I actually went to the site now (have had no time when I
wrote that so I trusted the OP's word) and there is no anomaly other than the
usual offer for all pltaforms.
You'll need to downgrade to linux libre 3.4 ->

I read that GNOME and LXDE were going to continue as the official GUI
environments. When Trisquel 8 arrives, many things are going to be posible,
for example I´ gonna can install Plasma 5 (through PPA)
Again, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS was already relesed. What canonical launched today is
the satble version, nothing else.
I like Jamendo a lot but I hate how javascript-heavy the site is.

its not as hard as you think, trisquel
I will only make one post in this thread:
If I recall correctly, the argument was that this benefits MS Developers.
How does it benefit Ubuntu?
I don't have an answer for that, and I'd love to hear yours.
Someone in this forum referred me to you.
I can help on a basic level. Do you need assistance?
Best regards,
Mel, in Calgary
i have good news for you and bad news, good news is: in a month trisquel 8

trisquel has a guide for it.
the bad news is, they are
one word for you about this: Frightening!
> I think there is definitely potential for problems.
By what mechanism? Again, this is nothing more than a compatibility layer for
Windows so that Windows users can run Ubuntu software. It doesn't mark any
change in Ubuntu.
Hello, I was wondering if it were possible to install MATE as the default
desktop in Trisquel, using the text installer, or some other means. I prefer
MATE to GNOME 3, but I would rather not have two DEs on my computer if I can
avoid it.
I tried doing this by not installing a desktop
I'm not sure how it recommends non-free software. They produce an add-on for
various proprietary and non-proprietary browsers. How is that different from,
say, how GNU Emacs was ported to Windows?

every end-user application on the CD is free software

[ SOLVED ] All fonts found in Trisquel are libre.
Thanks.
I don't believe it's a violation as it's not requiring you to install Chrome,
but the option is there for people who have not yet made a switch to a 100%
libre browser or distribution.
Sort of like how Notepad++ is libre software, but it's only available for
Windows. IMHO that doesn't make
Yes, all fonts found in Trisquel are libre (typically under the SIL OFL which
is considered libre by the FSF). Trisquel has no package that installs the
proprietary Microsoft fonts as well.
And there's also the Burr-Feinstein bill which was leaked:
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2016/04/burr-feinstein-proposal-simply-anti-security.
(Also, how do you even ban the export/import of software?)
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is released. Looking forward to Trisquel 8!
Hi!
I have a lot of problems with my screen, is not recognized, I can't change
brightness, I downloaded redshift and it does not work. I don't know if it is
because I use a laptop and graphics are integrated, but i hope i can help
you.
00:01.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced
Nvidia it is.
I have to test some of the extensions to see if any of them suits me.
Perhaps the old fruit's machines are not the best to start a free software
career from.
Thanks again!
As fr as I understand Privacy Badger or more precisely its website
**recommends** non free software. IMHO that is a direct violation of the
FSDG.
You should check **apertium**, I have used it to translate from English to
Spanish and it worked really great.
Problem is apertium supports only a few languages so far, but they are
planning to add more in the future. Anyway the program works great and is
quite powerful.
sudo apt-get
If not, if you find one, you should report it as a bug, for any proprietary
code in Trisquel is a bug and should be taken care of immediately.
Bandcamp is great, there is even an option to download music in OGG format!
,I would love install FF9 again ;D
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
OK lets do it right then. I think there is definitely potential for problems.
I left Ubuntu because I want to keep the free and open software, free and
open. I just wonder if the Trisquel team has any words to share about this.
This is just talking about Windows getting a compatibility layer to use
Ubuntu software. There's no problem.
There was already a whole embarrassing thread on here where a couple people
were spreading crazy conspiracy theories about this. Please, let's not repeat
that again.
Yes. I agree... Microsoft is attackign free software right now...

Hello,
In this page https://trisquel.info/en/browser there are various libre add-ons
that somebody can install to abrowser/icecat including Privacy Badger.
When you install Privacy Badger a small icon appears at the top right of the
browser which you can click and see various options. One
Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in software.
Greetings all, is it just me or should we be concerned that Windows and
Ubuntu might become the same thing?
http://fossbytes.com/windows-microsoft-ubuntu-linux-canonical-friends-mark-shuttleworth/
How could this have an effect on Trisquel since its derived from Ubuntu?
Should we be looking
Completely true. One of the real reasons you would want root access as a
ransomware author is to manipulate the log files (which I hadn't mentioned
prior to this) and for a couple other reasons. As a malware author, you need
to attempt to remove as many traces back as possible. Without root
Gallium is a free driver. NVidia's own driver is proprietary, so Trisquel
won't offer or suggest it.
Gnome 3 has by default only one panel at the top. You can install extensions
and have an application menu and many more tweaks. Just open Gnome Tweaktool.
Thanks! I make progress!
Driver is Gallium 0.4 on NVE7. I don't know what that means though, or which
of the to graphics cards that it drives.
And now I was able to find and start the GNOME shell! (Text on my login
screen is extremely tiny, would never have found it without help).

Hi,
I use https://translate.g00gl3.*/ to translate. Could you recommend something
similar?
Thanks again.
Hi,
Are all Fonts in Trisquel Software Libre?
(Just in case)
Thanks.
Or on 1000 floppy disks and then claim they are for an art project
celebrating the obsolescence of old technology.
You can see the driver in System Settings --> Details.
If you installed Gnome Shell, you'll see a new option on the login screen.
It's behind the Trisquel next to your user name.
Thanks for suggestions.
I tried Guest session and a new user. Looks the same - no panel.
I used Synaptic Package handler and searched for gnome shell.
gnome-shell-common was already installed. I installed gnome-shell and
restarted, but can see no difference.
