Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
Assembly isn't that bad. However, I doubt stas730 would need it for his/her "secret project."

Re: [Trisquel-users] Browsers keep crashing
Sometimes LibreJS addon crash some browsers. I never could to get acceptable performance with LibreJS, I tryed it on Abrowser, IceCat, Iceweasel. I use NoScript.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Browsers keep crashing
Update: - abrowser had no add-ons installed. - I completely uninstalled abrowser+icecat; sudo apt-get update, update, autoremove. - rebooted, installed just abrowser and rebooted. - tried the fresh installation of abrowser; websites mentioned continue crashing. - I then checked the "disable javascript" option from abrowser --> was able to open the JNNP website, but for obvious reason can't use googlemaps or (worse in my case) tinytinyRSS (which is >50% of what my computer time consists of...) Next I wanted to try uninstalling and re-installing the javascript components of Trisquel; any idea about the packages involved? thanks!
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
Don't forget about Go and Python!
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
> I must learn C, C++ and Assembler. Maybe, Qt. Then I will start developing my secret project. Jesus, assembly? Are you a masochist or what? > You cannot send PM now. I cannot trust people, so I will not publish any more information about secret project. It sounds like you have a sense of self-importance that probably isn't healthy. Your secret project isn't special, and your grasp of the technology required to realize such a project isn't very strong.
[Trisquel-users] Browsers keep crashing
Hi all, After updating Trisquel 7 today, both Abrowser and IceCat suddenly crash when a few webpages are opened. One in particular is GoogleMaps Another is a the the webpage of the Jornal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry ( www.jnnp.bmj.com ) Has anyone experienced the same? Are you able to open both pages? A bit frustrating... :-( I am considering reverting to my latest backup before the (highly recommended security) update...
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
It is binary code, yes? I will try later because it's too late now.
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
> Disabling JavaScript, sending an empty user agent Sending an empty user agent would definitely make the fingerprinting easier. Disabling javascript on the contrary will make it much more difficult as your browser (provided it is a decent browser with decent settings) will suddenly send only the HTTP_ACCEPT Headers and the User Agent, along with your internal window screen resolution, if you accept cookies (which you should, for the session only) and if the donottrack header is enabled (leave it off, it will make you more trackable and it is a useless feature no ad-head is going to comply with)

Can you be sure that the source code actually represents the executable u run? The answer is blowing in the NOPE!! http://www.dwheeler.com/trusting-trust/dissertation/html/wheeler-trusting-trust-ddc.html be careful, son, who you trust
Re: [Trisquel-users] Forum request: signatures
Unfortunately I can just read in French and understand some 60 %, but I can absolutely not write in French, which is unfortunate, for I have been planning to learn it for a long time now but never actually started, because lazy/busy :-/ I think we could add to the list I translated - think for instance of the "GRUB passwd question" which alone has been asked around here like 46 times in the last 2 years.. There are other common qstns, one just needs to think about it. Another one, off the top of my head is the "ATI slow furnace related questions". ciao
Re: [Trisquel-users] Mirror problems
yep, definitely down. Change mirror.

Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
This account is old. I'm not using this account now. I will not support all freeing projects anymore. The computers are evil* because many people using non-free software. I think, I will finish using latest non-free software after learning programming. I must learn C, C++ and Assembler. Maybe, Qt. Then I will start developing my secret project. You cannot send PM now. I cannot trust people, so I will not publish any more information about secret project. I can publish info about freeing project. Just ask me. *computers with non-free software
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
This is sort of off-topic (I agree with you completely), but: I am not sure whether Mangos contains proprietary code, but if not, it could still be a good piece of software. The Mana World server was originally based on such a kind of software used to host private MMO servers.
[Trisquel-users] Re : DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
So, in a crusade for free software, you want to censor gnu.org. That looks clever... Will you realize at some point that you do not know what free software is about? You do not even know what software is! A network, such as the as the Internet, is not software. A content, such as text/images/videos published on a website (or textures/models/sounds/music in a video game) is not software. I thought you were just pretending to know how to program. However, querying "stas730" on https://duckduckgo.com/html/ (with no proprietary JavaScript, contrary to what you seem to claim in this thread), I got this as the first result: https://github.com/stas730 How ironic? GitHub. That "does not work without running nonfree JavaScript": https://www.gnu.org/software/repo-criteria-evaluation.html#GitHub Worse: that page actually states that your two most recent "popular repositories" both deal with the proprietary game "World of Warcraft". You are an impostor.
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
gnu.org is not free software, not least of all because it is not software. (you are correct, it is CC BY-ND)
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
> Hint: what will happens if Internet will be non-free? We will finish using Internet. Maybe we will use GNUnet? https://gnunet.org/ :)

Re: [Trisquel-users] PayPal !!! ?
I don't think that's it. Whole Bitcoins are not typically used, fractions of Bitcoin are. The real problems are simply that very few people bother with it, and that the value of Bitcoin is highly unstable.
[Trisquel-users] Re : PayPal !!! ?
The fact that Bitcoin is a very expensive currency xplains to why so very few have wallets http://www.coindesk.com/price/
Re: [Trisquel-users] PayPal !!! ?
We use Paypal because it's pragmatic. Very few people have Bitcoin wallets, but very many people have Paypal accounts or credit cards.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How can we contact the Trisquel Team ?
What is they time zone ? Because if we try to contact them and we aren't in front of IRC at the same time we can't speek. It's for that we contact them by email.
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
I want to delete my email address (on proprietary hosting). You cannot send PM for me now.
Re: [Trisquel-users] DuckDuckGo? Change to YaCy.
We can block non-free websites using databases. Using "Report non-free website" button and just blocking popular non-free websites. What is gnu.org license? CC-BY-ND? Free software or not?
