Well done. Thank you to everyone involved for making this release happen.
Horrah! Kudos to all the folk involved. A wonderful piece of work here. Also
I can finally install it on a Libreboot system from the GUI, had been having
lots of trouble with that for the past few months.
Starting off as a joke from the IRC channel about how much it would cost to
buy a license key for Trisquel, this seems like a good time to bring up this
topic of donating to Trisquel. Especially since version 8 is out now.
So how much *does* a license key cost? One method might be to figure

Both are, e.g.
Thinkpad x200 are great.
I've bought 3x of them on eBay for 150$ total, they were advertised as bios
locked, no big deal as I intented to flash them to Libreboot xD. So with
flashing equipment (ch341a + cables and clip test, some extra 16MiB chips =
50$), I had 3 libreboot'ed x200. I sold
Libreboot devices are refurbished in general.
I got mine from libiquity, but he only sells x200 libreboot devices, same
though with the vikings.net store, just cheaper.
Sometimes discounts occur and the rest I dunno...
MagicBanana may answer better than I on this stuff.
PS, T3g if you are looking at this thread, you can stop complaining and just
upgrade. ;)
That would make sense. For such basic use 2gb should be fine.
Well, I am impressed Quidam, how did you go from, testing, to stable in 12
days?
Doesn't testing to stable usually take a whole lot longer? It does in debian
anyways...
hmm... Let's test this on my other laptop.
At least!
Remember to share the news with your friends.
Congrats, everyone!
Sent from T8 on a USB. :D
Thanks for the great work.
I have three questions:
Where is the public pgp key for the .asc file ?
Why not sign the hash files instead of the .iso ? or both ?
Why put a separate file for each hash ?

Bravo !
Awesome. Get them in early.
The safest method is to use update-manager (graphical) or do-release-upgrade
(text).
In case anyone is wondering when they can start posting whiny "where is
Trisquel 9" threads, here's a countdown clock.

Congratulations, everybody!
You didn't give up and achieved something great.
Marvellous news. I'm in the pub at the moment. Looking forward to finishing
up my back ups and doing a fresh install. Thank you to everyone. Today is a
good day.
Awesome! Thanks so much to quidam, jxself, gnutastyc, etc. for their hard work.
Trisquel is an extremely important project. I'm thankful to be a part of this
community.

Congratulations!
How safe is it now to
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
from Trisquel 7?
Nice! Please help others download it by seeding the torrent!
Please don't download directly from cdimage.trisquel.info, go to
https://trisquel.info/download and use the mirror selector! The main server
is getting slammed (nice problem to have...).
Two screenshots.
Wow, the forum has a new background to match the release of Flidas.

And another question, where should I download Trisquel 8?
Trying at https://trisquel.info/en/download but 64bit Trisquel 8 is not found
in any server I try.
Thanks Magic. I appreciate your response.
Booting back in works fine. But I feel like some things may be semi-broken if
the installer says it could not complete... I will update this thread with
pictures of the behavior I find post reboot.

Thanks for your messages.
Hey, that's a good idea! Maybe this is the time to go to Trisquel 8 and
contribute to testing.
Sorry, I meant I have simply forgotten the new password I set to my user, so
I'm locked out, but fortunately I still keep with me the passphrase I used to

I do not understand whether you forgot the passphrase that was used to
encrypt your home folder (if so, that is over: you need the password to
decrypt the data!) or the new passphrase. Could you clarify?

You lost your user password but not the encryption passphrase? Can you
decrypt the encrypted home with your old password?
If you can mount the encrypted home then you can copy the files by using live
cd image of trisquel or any other gnu/linux distro.
Hi,
I decided to change my user's password, I did it, and now I cannot remember
it. Home directory is encrypted, but I keep the passphrase.
I am searching for a solution in the Ubuntu universe but I just find
cumbersome workarounds. I find ways to recover files, but not a way to let

this is not unique to GNOME. Even in a desktop environment the doesn't include
