It does work; I use it.

Thanks Dave, that was what I needed, a "killall -9 speech-dispatcher"
command. I
One of the thing I first noticed about Trisquel is that libdvdcss is
unsupported. Thankfully we have a wiki page dedicated to installing it, But
the shell script noted on the wiki is no longer present in T8.0.
I did some digging and noticed that the VideoLAN page has a Debian repo with
it.
I think relates to a Firefox privacy setting, part of an implementation of
the Tor Uplift project.
You can completely disable it (not recommended, for privacy reasons):
about:config > privacy.resistFingerprinting = false
or create two new integer items:
privacy.window.maxInnerWidth
The forum replaces email addresses with "name at domain"...
Next time you boot the Trisquel live system, move the mouse little after the
desktop environment is loaded: the screen reader will not start not be setup
if you install Trisquel.

You can stop and disable screen reader in the Universal Access page on
Control Center, or just toggle it with 'alt+super+s'. You should also kill
all the speech-dispatcher processes that orca launches. When you mute
speech-dispatcher, it's still running. At any time, you can restart orca,
The browser is called Qupzilla, but the rendering engine was replaced so it
is in fact a different browser (apparently in Parabola the rendering engine
qt5-webengine was replaced by qt5-webkit).
If you have some X200 Tablets and you want Libreboot on them, you could send
them to Minifree for flashing. Minifree has a Libreboot Installation Service:

Price is per laptop/system flashed, but if you're sending more than 2
Parabola ships QupZilla version 1.8.9 that uses QtWebKit engine,

An KDE browser using QtWebEngine that now merges QupZilla and Konqueror,
called Falkon, is also available in Parabola, but the QtWebEngine deps are
virtual packages to be ignored.

For LXQt and MATE which is more light thanks? I will sincerely vote for LXQt.
For light-weight browser, QupZilla is recommended (and also by gnu.org).
For light-weight desktop environment, why do I feel that MATE is even lighter
than Xfce... One fact is that Xubuntu is beginning to use certain MATE
components.
PS, I am running Trisquel on a twelve years old
Epiphany is still available in Parabola/Hyperbola using WebKitGTK+ without
geoclue2 support.

Also, there is a reason why Qupzilla is not offered by Parabola and Hyperbola
(and thus should not be recommended here) - it is due to
By running Trisquel mini you are never prevented to install QupZilla hence
abandon discontinued Midori at your own will and own need. Trisquel is free
software so you are always free to install anything that meets freedom.
Epiphany is a great browser that’s written for GNOME, for systems that
don’t have Falkon/QupZilla like PureOS and Hyperbola I run Epiphany as the
only browser for these systems, however for Trisquel there is QupZilla so I
run QupZilla as my default web browser.

Funnily enough, that was the first thing I tried, even before muting Orca,
when I first installed Trisquel v8.0 on my machine. Unfortunately, even with
these options disabled (as shown in the attached
Isn't there a way to disable (rather than than mute) it from MATE's control

"Accessibility".
Hi all, does anybody know what is going on here? I muted the Orca screen
reader from the outset, because I don't need it myself, but I didn't
uninstall it, as I figured it would be good to be able to demonstrate that
particular functionality when I show off my Trisquel v8.0 installation to
