[Trisquel-users] Java/openjdk
Hi all, It seems to me that it is impossible to delete java in Trisquel ( or Linux Mint). Everytime i try to remove eg openjdk i get a message that some packegets will be removed and others installed. So when i remove openjdk 7, it will install openjdk 6. In W-ndo-s i could completely remove JAVA. How to do that in Trisquel ? I did not NEED JaVa in W-nd-ws, and so i don't need it in Trisquel. Thanks in advance

I know the topic is closed, but i want to come back at this issue. r Stallman calls Ubuntu ( after Ubuntu 12.04 ) spyware ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP8CNp-vksc) but what about Trisquel. Every website i visit is by default send to the DNS-servers of Google. I think Google is more sort of spyware than Canonical. I find this greatly disturbing. A Free OS , an advocate of Free Software, that let its users search the internet through Google. I dont understand this. BTW, i tried the suggestions in the other topic to replace the DNS-server, but i dont seem to understand how to do this.

I just added Privacy from the software add/remove menu. It's the same thing as in Ubuntu.

I think this is a great laptop BUT, the screen is just to small for me. Are there any alternatives, because i have the same problem as BMw: i live in europe, so i don't know what funny taxes i'll have to pay if i buy from ThinkPenguin. It would also be nice if someone could make a list of parts for the perfect free desktop. So the kind of motherboard, HD, RAM, Graphic card, ethernetcard etc that i would have to buy to compile my own working on Free Software desktop. I know that Atheros Wifi cards are great but what about the other stuff ?

Hi all, Is there any possibility to check of the trisquel-os on a desktop is infected with a virus, or malware, or other stuff. On Win-d ows there are plenty of Antivirus programs and mostly you can see that the system is infected. Are there indications for infections of Gnu/linux trisquel ? PS this is just a hypothetical question; My trisqueldistribution is not infected ( i think ! )

Please correct me if i'm wrong. I find the prices of ThinkPenguin very high. The emperor notebook starts with 2GB ram, which is low these days. They charge 55 dollar if you want 2GB more. I think that's very expensive. They have no AZERTY-keyboard. Is there a European alternative for ThinkPenguin ? Just correct me, i don't want to insult anybody.

After some time hesitating i have installed enigmail in Thunderbird. As i'm just a beginner i added my public key (PK) to a keyserver. I was now wondering about the fact that if a 3th party intercepts a mail from me to a friend, is that 3th party able to read the mail considering they can get my public key from the keyserver. Because that's the way i got the PK of my friends e-mailadress. I did not yet figure out how to send an (encrypted) mail to someone with my PK added to it as attachment. Some thoughts ?

Hi everyone, Never had any problem seeing YT-vids on Trisquel, but recently they keep loading but never start playing. Anybody else any problems with that. BTW it's Trisquel 6.0 with The Shockwave flash GNASH plugin.

Sometimes Trisquel freezes ( eg GTumb opening a large JPG ). Anything i can do ? Restarting the desktop is rather frustrating.

I just added another desktop to my collection. It runs the MSI mainboard H61M-P31 G3. Trisquel runs good on it, but is there a feature in Trisquel to check whether or not Trisquel uses de graphicchip on it. So there is no Graphic card? Just a chip on the MSI mainboard.

I am new to GNU/Linux. Been using Ubuntu ( until they put amazon-spyware in it ) Then went to Linux Mint and whike surfing and reading about GNU en Linux i found Trisquel. I very much like the idea of the FSF and watched some youtubevids where R Stallman is explaining his thoughts. He's absolutly right. But, my computer is working as hell because Trisquel has , i think, no driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT. I have been reading and searching yesterday almost the whole day ( it were the posting of Cyberhawk that lead me to de vids of R. Stallman ( THX !! ) but have not found a solution. As i 'm at this point a rather noob on GNU/Linux, all help would be appreciated. I read something about nouveau but could not figure out if/where it is, how to get it etc. O and i have Trisquel 6.0 installed.

Klaar xserver-xorg-video-intel is reeds de nieuwste versie. 0 pakketten opgewaardeerd, 0 pakketten nieuw geïnstalleerd, 0 te verwijderen en 0 niet opgewaardeerd. Now the cable of my monitor(screen) is plugged in de NVIDIAcard. If i plug it in the motherboard's own chip, the monitor does not work. Other suggestions ???
