Librewolf browser looks promising to me. Thanks Caleb and Masonhock.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Is there a build of Trisquel Mini 8 that is under 700 MB and can fit on a CD?
How about detaching the hard disk drive off it and install Trisquel on other computer and finally attach the hard disk back again?
Re: [Trisquel-users] 2FA
I would love to know this too it's really important. Thanks for making this topic.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Remove BOM from UTF8 files
Amazing. Glad to know that worked! Thanks to lcerf and enduzzer for explaining my command I learned new thing.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Remove BOM from UTF8 files
Can't we just use looping for that? For example, I use this command to process multiple files. It removes lines with hashtag sign in every TXT file of all TXT files in current directory. What do you think? for filename in file*.txt; do sed -i '/#/d' $filename; done

Re: [Trisquel-users] SSD drives and Trisquel
I use Trisquel 8 on SSD and it works very well for years.

Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to test Trisquel 9.
Re: [Trisquel-users] I CANNOT ACCES TO INTERNET
Hello cesq, I am Telegram user and I noticed that Telegram seems to use own dns system to connect to the internet separated to the GNU/Linux system dns. This is why I also often experienced same experience as yours. The good thing there is that you are certainly connected to the internet (thanks to telegram's proof) (so I think your router is okay) but somehow other applications cannot. I have weak networking knowledge so this is only my guess. My suggestion: 1) make sure your /etc/resolv.conf points to correct dns address 2) make sure your system dns resolver is working and not disabled 3) make sure no two network connections connected at a same time Cheers!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Why are we based on Ubuntu and not Debian?
Hello, glad to see you in Trisquel Forum! As far as I know, this issue is often discussed already. Personally, I don't think changing base would accelerate or enhance Trisquel development especially for now. And let's suppose it happens, next time somebody could come and could say similar thing "why are we based on Debian and not painly GNU+Linux?". All in all, I really like you showing your commitment to software freedom. Cheers, Ade
Re: [Trisquel-users] Newest Desktop GPU That Works With Trisquel ?
Yes, go with Intel VGAs to be safe. I do not have any NVIDIA/ATI but only Intel so I never find any problem with VGA on Trisquel.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Communicating to computer illiterates who use proprietary software
I am facing similar things also here in my country Indonesia and the approach I use is to ask or help the person to install LibreOffice on their respective operating system. I am trying to make everybody installs LibreOffice on their Windows computers. This way I believe we do not lose our Open Document Format and do not lose our effort in promoting free software.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Password Management on Trisquel
I use KeePassX.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Libre software for video calls
Thanks Zelphir. I know Wire client is free software as it was mentioned by the FSF twice[1][2]. But I am curious how do you use Wire. How about video calls? How about voice call? How many people you talk with? [1] https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Collection:High_Priority_Projects [2] https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Collection:Privacy_pack
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libre software for video calls
For my online course, aside from using Telegram as voice call (one on one), I use Jitsi Meet for screen sharing as I teach GNU/Linux via that. Jitsi has a gratis server everybody could create at anytime to use with multiple users at https://meet.jit.si which I use to do voice conference with my students. I'm sorry I don't know about video call as I do not use that feature.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Search function for Trisquel Users forum?
Hello Ian, glad to hear that!
Re: [Trisquel-users] LibreOffice Alternative
Wow, Caleb, this link is awesome. I find it's truly hard to find such guidance from any other party other than FSF. Thanks.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 9 not booting once installed
For reinstalling GRUB bootloader, there is my favorite article from HTG here https://www.howtogeek.com/114884/how-to-repair-grub2-when-ubuntu-wont-boot. Simply follow the command line section there so you do not need to install anything. I always give this to everybody asking about their bootloader needs to be repaired. The one lcerf pointed out above is great (thank you!) but the HTG's is far more simpler.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 9 not booting once installed
If that is only a bootloader issue, then you just need to reinstall GRUB bootloader from Triskel LiveCD you already have.
Re: [Trisquel-users] New Trisquel group on the fediverse using Guppe
Wow, so you were actually posted here first and then at Mastodon. Nice, now I understand your discussion about Gup.pe few hours ago. I already joined and thank you strypey!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Jami and Jitsi unreliable for video calls
Ah you mentioned Wire. I remember, Wire is free software recommended by the FSF[1] aside from Signal and is capable of doing video conference[2]. I knew Wire before GNU Ring (now Jami) but never tried it with another person. Thanks bobandrew. How about it, anatom? Personally, I use Telegram for my online course since 2017 and everything goes well with text & pictures. With Telegram I can run more than 80 public courses with 1000 more audience (all Indonesians) up to today. It cannot do video conference at the moment but it can do voice call (one on one) and for my case the voice quality is good and it's already real to do relaxed chat. Re: [Trisquel-users] PDF compressor
To compress dozens of PDF files as long as the source document is available (ODT) I compress images within it by hand one by one with LibreOffice. To do so, I do right-click a picture > Compress > a new dialog appears > I set out compression > I click Calculate so I know resulting size > click OK > picture compressed. I teach online course and this manual way is the way I do to make transcripts. From a 20MB raw document, I can make it smaller to 3MB or so as PDF. I share this to you and I hope this could be useful. Thanks.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Search function for Trisquel Users forum?
Hello Ian. You can use the search box on top of this page. Welcome to Trisquel community!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Jami and Jitsi unreliable for video calls
Just recently I encountered Mumble VoIP because I saw the last feature "[...]Mumble will use 10-40 kbit/s outgoing, and the same incoming for each user. So if there are 10 other users on the server with you, your incoming bandwidth requirement will be 100-400 kbit/s if they all talk at the same time[...]" you can read here https://github.com/mumble-voip/mumble. I suggest you to test Mumble VoIP.
Re: [Trisquel-users] How can we find the reason for blocking Ubuntu packages?
I'm sorry I don't know precisely Trisquel development, but you can refer to Parabola Blacklist https://git.parabola.nu/blacklist.git/tree/blacklist.txt if you want to know the freedom-related reason a package being blacklisted. Because Trisquel and Parabola share the same ethical guidelines (GNU FSDG), the blacklist should be identical too.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Linphone doesn't work
Yes, I too am currently teaching online with Jitsi Meet. It is the best at the moment after I was trying Nextcloud Talk, then GNU Jami, then Riot.im (with Jitsi embedded). Jitsi Meet works pretty well.
Re: [Trisquel-users] LibreOffice Alternative
What xliang said was true. I have a long article I name it "Support Open Document Format" presenting several the importance of ODF, why we all should avoid OOXML, danger of software patents, and many references & organizations that support ODF too. you can read here https://linuxdreambox.wordpress.com/2016/01/10/support-open-document-format.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 9 Graphical ISO available for testing
I tried LiveCD session of Trisquel 9.0 amd64 and it works without problem for me. MATE desktop works as I want, internet works (from a USB mifi), browser works, file manager works & can access disk partitions just well, installing programs also works well from archive.trisquel.info server. My system is Intel Pentium 967 1.3GHz 4GB RAM with the bootable SanDisk usb flash drive 32GB. Thank you all Trisquel Developers! However, I didn't install that T9 yet. And I am really surprised to see Triskel, the KDE edition, is available. I have seen the manifest file and it says Plasma version 5.12 within. This is amazing.

Freely as in freedom licensed office suite I know other than LibreOffice are Calligra Suite (https://www.calligra.org) and ONLYOFFICE (https://www.onlyoffice.com). Still, I recommend LibreOffice for you.

There are some computer terminology resources I love and find out: - http://foldoc.org (once recommended by The GNU Project's website) - http://linfo.org - https://www.computerhope.com/jargon.htm - https://techterms.com - http://www.osdata.com/kind/history.htm - https://winworldpc.com/library/operating-systems - https://www.operating-system.org I understand your first email as I am also an auto-didact person. I hope these links useful for you and please tell me what do you think about them. Thank you.

What is your opinion? And how to turn a mailing list into RSS Feed? (so I can easily subscribe messages into my aggregator). > (I do not blog; dcc.ufmg.br/~lcerf lists my research articles, code, etc.) Yes, I am aware about this and I like you posts. What I meant was everything information on the net that can be subscribed (relayed) in an aggregator website. So I said yours was "blog". Really thank you lcerf for your reply in particular and your dedication here in general. Sorry I am following Trisquel Forum using email.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Re : install trisquel 8 32bit to USB
I suggest you to use EXT2 instead of EXT4 on your flash drive if you would install a GNU/Linux into it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Jami version in the Trisquel 8 repos is still called Ring
Really nice move, Strypey. I support that immediately & good thing I have a GitLab account.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Intel D945GCLF Libreboot + Trisquel
Hm, sorry to hear that. Alternatively, you can find more flashing services at Zerocat and such companies: - http://www.zerocat.org - https://libiquity.com - https://www.flashedtech.com/flashing-services I believe there are still more services but either I forgot or I do not know them. I wish you success.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Intel D945GCLF Libreboot + Trisquel
I suggest you to ask https://libreboot.org directly or see technical support at https://minifree.org. I believe you could buy tools from them as well.

Hi ulises.sanchez, I can feel how hard if our hardware won't work with GNU/Linux. What can I advise you is go to https://h-node.org and find there information about Audio Card and WLAN Card (external is good) that are verified perfectly working with 100% free software. For example, for WLAN adapter USB you may read this https://h-node.org/wifi/catalogue/en/1/1/undef/undef/yes/USB/wifi-works/undef. Good luck!
