It has been installed now. I had to enable CSM in BIOS to make it work.
I tried shutting down the computer and removing USB before powering it on and
I get this message:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot
device and press a key".
Sorry if this is something obvious, but I would appreciate any help on this:
I have tried installing Trisquel from USB Hard Drive, and in the end it says
installation is complete but needs to re-start the pc. I do this and it takes
me back to the reboot screen and it only gives me the option
I did sudo apt-get clean before. I made a backup of my files and would like
to resize but wasn't able to do it yet.
I see. I've no idea how I got this very small home partition. I'll have to
remove the old kernel images next time I'm running out of space, if I can't
find any other solution. Thanks for your help.
Thank you. That freed more than 5 GiB, according to the program. It should
last for a while. Still, the partition's total size is only 13.97 GiB, so I'd
like to find a way to expand it.
I decided to expand the partition for "/" but I've encountered an issue.
I'm using GParted and it won't let me unmount it or modify it. I tried
unmounting with the terminal using sudo umount /dev/sda1 but it gives me the
following message: "device is busy.(In some cases useful info about
Alright. I'll try doing that. Thanks.
This is what I get:

I keep getting the message that I have very little disk space remaining. I
tried removing some programs I don't use from the list of installed ones, but
it won't let me remove anything when I uncheck them. Any ways to get around
this?
Thanks. I will look into that option.
That doesn't sound good. It's good to know, though. Thanks for replying,
anyway.
I'd like some help with a couple issues I've been having recently:
1) I'd like to have a language icon in the menu bar, but I can't find a way
to do this. I read that you have to enable "show current input source in the
menu bar" (in keyboard settings) but I don't get that option at all. I
Yes, I have checked free space. I'll try unchecking it.
Don't know if I've done it wrong but Abrowser still does not show up in
BleachBit.
Are there any other good alternatives to BleachBit?
This program doesn't clean Abrowser by default and it also hangs everytime I
run it.
It goes down to 0% remaining and then it stays there forever.
It also leaves a file in my documents folder that I have to delete from the
trash bin with a
Thanks for your comments, everyone. I thought I could choose which program to
use when playing .swf files, as the only option I get is Gnash. I have
installed Lightspark but I don't get the option to use it. I tried Shumway
but it didn't work.
Are there any other alternatives in the repository or other free software
(apart from Gnash) to play .swf files?
Thanks! I'll give it a try.
Is there a way to auto-hide the bars (tabs, address, everything) in Abrowser?
I have been able to hide the menu bar and bookmarks but nothing else.
Thanks but in full screen I am not able to select any of the open
applications located in the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
I was hoping there was a way to auto-hide the top part of the browser in the
same way I can do with the task bar at the bottom, so that I have a full
screen
I'd like to change my abrowser's language. How do I do that?
I have not found any way to do this.
Thanks! That worked.
I did what you suggested and although it took some time to delete them, it
worked in the end.
Now things seem to be normal. Thanks for your help!
I'd like to install the latest Anki version. Not from the repository as this
would install an older version.
I tried to do it by downloading the latest package and using Package Manager
to install but it doesn't work.
Only the older version shows up when using that program. Maybe I'm missing
Thanks. I was able to do it following your instructions.
I am having problems deleting some folders from the trash. I tried restoring
them and some of them were restored after many tries but one of them stayed
and everytime I click on delete or restore, my laptop gets stuck.
These folders I wanted to delete, just appeared in my home folder and
Found the solution in another site: Had to type ibus-daemon -d in Terminal to
start it.
I must have done that when I had it working before, but probably was reset
after upgrading Trisquel.
After upgrading Trisquel, I can no longer type in Japanese like before.
I have Ibus selected under keyboard input method system.
Could someone please tell me how to solve this?
I already have the ibus-anthy package. I checked with synaptic. I installed
it when I had the previous version of Trisquel.
The problem is that under input sources I don't get the option for
Japanese (Anthy).
The options I get are: Japanese, Japanese (Dvorak), Japanese (Kana), Japanese
I just upgraded Trisquel to the newest version.
Can someone please tell me how to disable this annoying voice describing
everything I click on?
What is that even good for? I don't understand what the purpose for it is.
I see. What is it called exactly? I can't see anything like that in system
settings.
Thanks. Found it. I understand why it can be very important for some.
After upgrading to Trisquel 7.0 my arrow keys are not working.
I've looked in system settings (under keyboard) but I cannot find anything to
enable them again.
Anyone knows how to do it?
Nevermind, it is working now. I don't know how but it's normal again.
Thank you! That solved the problem for me. It's been working like normal
since I did what you suggested.
Yes, I know you both pointed out to the fix but what I'm saying is that it
still sounds complicated...unless someone can explain the fix to me in an
easier way.
Sounds complicated. I think I'll wait until there is a more user-friendly
solution.
My laptop doesn't display some exotic languages. When I visit Wikipedia's
page, I cannot see all the available languages. How do I get to see them all?
When I used to have Windows, I could see all of them. Do I have to install
them using the repository? I can't find any information on how to
Thanks. I am using the Synaptic Package Manager to download and install the
ones I need. Seems to be working.
Thanks. I am installing some with Synaptic now, although not all of them
appear to be there.
The fixes reported on this thread work once but then you always have to do it
that way because the Update Manager has never gone back to normal for me.
If I start the Update Manager, I get the same screen boaz was showing above.
I haven't had any updates being installed for a while. Last time when the
Update Manager popped up, it never finished downloading anything and appeared
to be stuck. As I couldn't stop it or even close it, I had to re-start the
system. I thought this was a one-off problem but it's happened
Thank you! I executed the command and it worked! It is up to date now.
I hope it will continue to work as normal from now on.
Thanks! It's working now.
I'd like to know if these EPSON fonts are free. It is not clear to me what
kind of license they have. There are 5 of them available for download at the
following page:
http://www.freejapanesefont.com/page/13/
That's too bad. I thought they looked quite nice. I'll check if I haven't got
the ones you listed. Thanks.
