I've made a bad choice choosing a non-personalized user name a couple of
years ago.
Could I ask an operator here to change my username from 'Vikings' to
'Vikings_thum' so other team members can join in a similar fashion - if it's
not too much trouble?
Thanks!
This is a known and bug/feature with Libreboot because a perfectly stable
X200 would require microcode updates.
See https://notabug.org/libreboot/libreboot/issues/289
To complete the list of shops that install Libreboot and are specialized in
this one way or another, there's also Zerocat from Berlin/Germany:

Many of the devices, except the X200 tablet and X200s have become kind of
rare these days. At least they aren't

You realize though that even if this would happen this could be considered a
downgrade from e.g. an X200 for some? Speaking in terms of build quality and
keyboard which many consider their main interface with a
We're now offering two more RYF certified items in our store, the KCMA-D8

Where are you based? I have a number of compatible cards here.
Personally I'm not bothered by scuffs and marks, as long as they are not on
the screen and as long the laptop is super clean (I use the laptop in the
worst condition we were able to source, clean it, usually replace the screen
with an AFFS screen, get a new keyboard and I'm happy).

I don't think suspend works with Libreboot. Hibernate instead, it's also more
secure (with disk encryption). There may be some regressions in the kernel,
so it might work with one version and it might fail with another.
We've shipped the system with the latest version of Linux libre, so if

You're most welcome! =)

Samsung Evo or Pro is always a good choice according to our fair share of
experience with these drives.

You'd be surprised to hear that most people here don't have their own
financial gain in mind but sincerely want to provide help or help to help
yourself. =)
The few organizations posting their
RAM doesn't seem to be the problem, all sticks should work if my visual
memory is correct. At least with one module at a time.
If the laptop worked before flashing Libreboot, I'd probably flash again. If
that doesn't work either, flash the vendor BIOS again and see what happens
then.
We would need more information, e.g. which RAM model. Oftentimes this is
about incompatible RAM. That's where I'd look first if you're sure the
flashing was successful.
If you have two modules installed, try with only one (in this case you
probably have two different modules installed which

They do. You can contact En Kompis Kompis, http://enkompiskompis.se/,

I've contacted them via a written letter after quitter.se was offline for

Hello there,
> It's irrelevant now though
It may be not relevant to you, your initial comment about VAT was factually
wrong though and I cared to correct it. Suddenly it's "irrelevant", which
seems counterintuitive.
> Thomas, btw, you're part of that peace deal I offered Tiberiu.
Huh?
> So you can either stay small and not register for VAT, or get big and have
to register for VAT - and charge more to your EU customers - or lower your
price. Tough call.
Oh dear, that's not how it works. If you register for VAT because you have to
or because you voluntarily do doesn't

Oh wow, I find that a tad bit exaggerated. Anyway, perhaps you're right and
they aren't a troll, in that case I'd apologize. =) My troll-o-meter was
ringing though.

From what I've seen, heard and read Technoethical as a source of your
libre-friendly computing is to be highly recommended. I've met Tiberiu
personally on FOSDEM this year and I found him knowledgable, friendly and
professional.
So what the OP/troll actually seems to be asking is if people

You'd be better of in Germany though. There are 6 months of data retention in
Switzerland, whereas in Germany there is no such thing at present. What makes
things almost worse is that this came to live via plebiscite.
Germany isn't perfect either (no country is), but still among the best
I'm posting this as someone who went actually through the FSF's RYF process
to the end.

The FSF is _the_ libre software lighthouse. As such, it has set its own set
of well-established principles that are almost written in stone. Not
I don't think you'd be able to fully remove the smell if the laptop is from a
heavy smoker. Especially if you're sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke.
It's probably better to get another laptop and sell yours to a smoker who
won't mind =)
To improve the situation, buy some isopropyl
